Xiaomi Redmi Note Screen Replacement

If your screen is damaged (unresponsive, dead pixels, or cracked), proceed with caution as replacing it involves using a heat gun to loosen the adhesive.

Step 1 | Battery

Ensure the Xiaomi Redmi Note is turned off.

  • Insert a plastic opening tool between the charging port and the rear case.
  • Pry the end of the rear case upwards from the charging port using the tool.

Use a plastic opening tool to pry the rear casing off by running it along the side seam.

Locate the battery release tab at the bottom of the battery.

  • Insert your finger into the battery release tab and push upwards to dislodge it.

Step 4 | Midframe

Remove twelve 3.5mm Phillips #00 screws.

  • From the midframe.

Insert plastic opening tool into seam between midframe and bottom frame.

  • Run plastic opening tool along seam to dislodge clips.
  • Pry up midframe with plastic opening tool.
  • Once midframe is lifted, place hand underneath edge and lift entire component out of frame.

Snapping sounds may be heard as clips disconnect from phone.

Step 6 | Charging Port

Identify the charging port at the device's base.

  • Remove the Phillips #00 screws adjacent to it using a screwdriver, with a diameter of 2.9mm.

Locate the antenna cable at the top right corner of the charging port.

  • Lift the antenna cable off the panel using a pair of tweezers.

Flip the panel over.

  • Do not lift the panel off the phone completely.
  • Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry off the press fit connector.

Step 9

Lift the charging port upwards to dislodge it from the surrounding .

Step 10 | Front-Facing Camera

Lift the retaining flap on the ZIF connector using tweezers.

  • Pull the ribbon cable out of the ZIF connector with tweezers.
  • Remove the front-facing camera from the motherboard.

Step 11 | Rear Camera

Remove the press-fit connector on the left side of the rear-facing camera.

Step 12 | Motherboard

Locate the ZIF connectors on the motherboard.

  • Lift the retaining flap on each ZIF connector with tweezers.
  • Pull the ribbon cable to the left out of each connector.
  • Repeat for all three ZIF connectors.

Locate the antenna cable at the bottom right of the motherboard.

  • Use a pair of tweezers to carefully lift the cable off the motherboard.

Remove the two 2.9mm Philips #00 screws.

Flip the motherboard over to access the underside.

  • Locate the snap-fit connector on the lower right corner and use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry it off.

Do not attempt to remove the motherboard yet.

  • Lift up the motherboard and turn it over.
  • Place the motherboard next to the phone for reference.
  • Pull on the board can damage its connection to the vibrating motor.

Use tweezers to carefully pull the vibrating motor away from its adhesive bond on the phone's frame.

Be prepared to apply moderate force as the vibrating motor is glued in place.

Step 19 | Screen

  • Remove the rubber proximity sensor from the top left of the frame using a pair of tweezers.

Be prepared to apply gentle yet firm pressure when detaching the screen ribbon cable.

  • Use tweezers to carefully peel off the screen ribbon cable from its frame mount.
  • If necessary, use a bit of force to release any adhesion between the cable and frame.

Avoid overheating the frame when applying heat.

  • Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low temperature setting.
  • Heat the screen surface for 20 minutes to loosen adhesives.

Use a plastic prying tool to pry between the screen and the frame, gently flexing it as needed.

Insert the plastic opening tool into the gap between the screen and frame, running it carefully along the edge to create a visible opening.

Insert your finger into the frame's opening and gently peel the screen away.

If the screen is cracked, do not touch it; instead, carefully peel from its metal underside to avoid injury.

  • Be aware of the ribbon cable in the top right corner of the frame; ensure it passes through freely before attempting to remove the screen.
