Xiaomi Redmi Note Headphone Jack Replacement

This repair involves replacing the headphone jack using soldering techniques.

Step 1 | Battery

Power down the Xiaomi Redmi Note.

  • Insert the plastic opening tool between the charging port and rear case.
  • Pry the end of the rear case up from the charging port.

Use a plastic opening tool to pry open the phone's rear casing by inserting it into the side seam.

  • Gently run the tool along the seam to loosen the adhesive holding the casing in place.
  • Pry carefully until the casing is completely removed.

Insert your finger into the battery release located at the bottom of the battery.

  • Lift upwards to dislodge the battery.

Step 4 | Midframe

Remove twelve 3.5mm Phillips #00 screws from the midframe.

Insert plastic opening tool into seam between midframe and bottom frame.

  • Run plastic opening tool along seam.
  • Pry up midframe with plastic opening tool.
  • Lift midframe entirely using hand underneath edge once sufficiently lifted.

Snapping sounds are normal as clips disconnect from phone.

Step 6 | Front-Facing Camera

Use tweezers to lift the retaining flap of the ZIF connector to the upright position.

  • Use tweezers to pull the ribbon cable out of the ZIF connector.
  • Remove the front-facing camera from the motherboard.

Step 7 | Rear Camera

Disconnect the rear-facing camera from the motherboard.

  • Pull out the press-fit connector located to the left of the camera.

Step 8 | Motherboard

Identify the ZIF connectors situated on the motherboard.

  • Lift the retaining flap on each ZIF connector using tweezers.
  • Pull the ribbon cable out of the connector to the left.
  • Repeat for all three connectors.

Locate the antenna cable at the bottom right of the motherboard.

Use a pair of tweezers to gently lift the cable off its connection.

Remove two 2.9mm Philips #00 screws.

  • Flip the motherboard over to expose its backside.
  • Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry off the snap fit connector found at the bottom right of the board.

Place the motherboard upside down beside the phone.

Do not attempt to remove the motherboard yet – risk of damaging the vibrating motor connection.

Be cautious when applying force to avoid damaging the vibrating motor or surrounding components.

  • Use tweezers to carefully grasp the vibrating motor and gently pry it off its mounting point on the phone's frame.
  • If the motor is stubborn, do not hesitate to apply moderate force with the tweezers in a controlled manner.

Step 15 | Headphone Jack

Flip the motherboard over and identify the headphone jack at the top left corner.

  • Remove the 6 soldered connections on the sides of the headphone jack from the motherboard using desoldering techniques.

If unfamiliar with soldering and desoldering, consult a reliable resource for proper training.

  • Remove the headphone jack from the motherboard using a pair of tweezers.
