Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T Battery Replacement

  • Note: If your battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.
  • Purchase replacement adhesive for this repair.

Step 1 | Eject the SIM card tray

Locate the SIM card tray on the upper left edge of the phone.

  • Insert a SIM card eject tool into the small hole in the SIM card tray.
  • Press firmly to eject the SIM card tray.

Step 2 | Remove the SIM card tray

Remove the SIM card tray from the phone.

  • Insert the SIM card with the correct orientation inside the tray.
  • A damaged or missing Rubber gasket must be replaced to protect internal components.

Replace the entire SIM tray if the gasket cannot be repaired.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

The back cover may be secured with significant force, especially around the camera cut-out.

  • Insert an opening pick at a steep angle where the charging port is located, applying moderate force if necessary.
  • Aim for the gap between the back cover and display frame to avoid damaging the screen.

Step 4 | Release the bottom edge plastic clips

Insert an opening pick at the bottom right corner and gently pry the back cover loose.

  • Release the plastic clips by sliding the pick further down, if necessary.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the clips from re-engaging.

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom edge, angled steeply.

  • Slide it towards the bottom left corner to release the plastic clips.
  • Leave it in place to prevent the clips from snapping back.

Step 6 | Release the left edge plastic clips

Position the opening pick at the lower-left corner and slide it along the left edge of your phone.

Do not remove the pick yet, as this will cause the plastic clips to snap back into place.

Leave the pick in position at the top-left corner.

Step 7 | Release the right edge plastic clips

Slide the opening pick along the right edge of your phone to release the plastic clips.

  • Leave the opening pick in the top right corner to keep the clips from snapping back.

Step 8 | Release the top edge plastic clips

Insert the left opening pick into the top left corner and gently slide it along the edge to disengage the top edge plastic clips.

Do not attempt to disconnect the power and volume button cable at this time.

  • Slide a right opening pick around the top right corner of the device.
  • The remaining plastic clips will release, but do not separate the phone assembly from the back cover yet.

Step 10 | Open the phone assembly

Align the back cover on the left side of the phone assembly, folding it like a book cover.

  • Be mindful not to damage the power or volume button flex cable.

Do not strain or tear the flex cable during this procedure — risk of damage.

Reassemble by snapping the back cover into its original position, ensuring proper alignment with the phone assembly.

Step 11 | Unfasten the motherboard cover screws

Remove the motherboard cover using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Locate and remove the ten 3.9 mm Phillips head screws.

Step 12 | Pry up the motherboard cover

  • Place an opening pick under the bottom right edge of the motherboard cover.
  • Slide the opening pick along the right edge of the motherboard cover to release its plastic clips.
  • Twist the opening pick sideways and pry up the motherboard cover.

Step 13 | Remove the motherboard cover

Remove the motherboard cover.

Step 14 | Disconnect the home and volume button cable

Do not press down on the middle of the connector — risk of pin bending.

  • Use a spudger to disconnect the home and volume button cable by prying the connector straight up from its socket.
  • To re-attach, carefully align the connector and press down on one side until it clicks into place. Repeat on the other side.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover from the phone assembly.

Step 16 | Disconnect the battery cable

Disconnect the battery cable by carefully prying the connector straight up with a spudger.

Step 17 | Peel off the battery pull-tabs

Avoid damaging the battery with sharp tools - risk of chemical leakage or fire.

  • Use blunt nose tweezers or a clean fingernail to gently peel off the orange adhesive strip labeled 'A' on the battery.

Remove the orange adhesive strip labeled with a B, following the same pull-tab procedure as before.

Step 19 | Lift the battery

Avoid direct heat on the battery to prevent overheating.

  • Grasp both pull-tab ends labeled A and lift the battery out of its recess, swinging it up into an upright position.
  • If stuck, apply a heated iOpener to the screen for 2 minutes to loosen the adhesive.

For added assistance, use heat from a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate — but be cautious not to overheat the device.

Step 20 | Remove the battery

Peel the battery off remaining adhesive.

  • Remove the battery completely.
  • Do not reinstall a damaged or deformed battery, as this poses a potential safety hazard.

Secure new battery with pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape:

  • Apply new adhesive to device locations where old adhesive was positioned (not directly on battery).
  • Press new battery firmly into place.

During reassembly, temporarily reconnect battery to motherboard before seating to ensure correct alignment. Disconnect after seating.
