Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T Back Cover Replacement

Replacement adhesive is required for the rear camera cut-out in reassembly.

  • Use this guide to replace the back cover on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T.

Step 1 | Eject the SIM card tray

  • Insert a SIM card eject tool into the small hole on the upper left edge of the phone.
  • Press firmly to eject the SIM card tray.

Step 2 | Remove the SIM card tray

Remove the SIM card tray from the phone.

If the rubber gasket around the tray is damaged or missing, replace it or the entire SIM tray to prevent water and dust damage to internal components.

  • When reinserting the SIM card, ensure proper orientation within the tray.
  • Reinsert the SIM card into the properly aligned SIM tray.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

May require force to release plastic clips.

  • Insert an opening pick steeply between display assembly and back cover, near charging port.
  • Be careful not to separate screen from frame while prying.

Step 4 | Release the bottom edge plastic clips

Insert an opening pick at the bottom right corner and slide it towards the edges.

  • The plastic clips should release, allowing you to remove the back cover.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to keep the clips from re-engaging.

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom edge, angled steeply.

  • Slide it to the bottom left corner to release the plastic clips.
  • Leave the pick in place to prevent clips from snapping back.

Step 6 | Release the left edge plastic clips

Insert the opening pick at the bottom left and slide it along the left edge of the phone, releasing the plastic clips.

Make sure to leave the opening pick in the top left corner to prevent the clips from snapping back into place.

Step 7 | Release the right edge plastic clips

Slide the bottom right opening pick along the right edge of your phone to release the plastic clips.

Leave the opening pick in the top right corner to prevent the clips from snapping back into place, avoiding potential damage or breakage.

Step 8 | Release the top edge plastic clips

Insert the left opening pick at the top left corner, sliding it downwards along the edge to release the plastic clips.

Slide a right opening pick around the top right corner to release remaining plastic clips.

Do not separate the phone assembly from the back cover completely at this point - the power and volume button cable is still connected.

Step 10 | Open the phone assembly

  • Fold the back cover to the left side of the phone assembly, like opening a book.
  • Be careful not to strain or tear the power or volume button flex cable.

  • During reassembly, align and snap the back cover back into its original position.

Step 11 | Unfasten the motherboard cover screws

Remove the motherboard cover using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • There are 10 screws in total, each 3.9 mm long
  • Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove them from the motherboard cover.

Step 12 | Pry up the motherboard cover

Insert the opening pick under the bottom right edge of the motherboard cover.

  • Slide the opening pick along the right edge to release plastic clips.
  • Twist the opening pick sideways to pry up the motherboard cover.

Step 13 | Remove the motherboard cover

Remove motherboard cover.

Step 14 | Disconnect the home and volume button cable

Pressing the connector's middle section can cause pin bending and permanent damage.

  • Use a spudger to disconnect the home and volume button cable by prying the connector straight up from its socket.
  • To reattach, align carefully and press down on one side until it clicks into place. Repeat on the other side, avoiding the middle section.

Step 15 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover by separating it from the phone assembly.
