Ensure you have replacement adhesives for the back cover and fingerprint reader before starting the repair.
Locate the SIM tray at the left edge of the phone.
Be cautious of overheating as the display and internal battery can be damaged.
Use sufficient force to release the plastic clips holding the back cover in place.
Secure a suction handle to the screen's bottom edge, as close to the edge as possible.
Apply more heat to soften adhesive if needed, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.
Insert a second opening pick into the bottom edge at an angle.
Check if adhesive has cooled down.
Slide the opening pick along the right edge of your phone to release the plastic clips and slice the adhesive.
Do not separate the phone assembly from the back cover all the way yet, as the fingerprint reader is still adhered to the back cover.
Apply iOpener to the back cover near the fingerprint reader for 2 minutes.
Be careful not to apply too much heat, which may damage surrounding components.
Be careful when handling the fingerprint reader to avoid damaging it.
If adhesive is too strong, apply heated iOpener to fingerprint reader for 1-2 minutes.
Apply an iOpener to the back cover near the former fingerprint reader location for 2 minutes.
Beware of the adhesive — risk of damage or tears.
Remove graphite foil.
Adhesive under NFC antenna may be too cool to peel off.
Now, carefully slide opening pick tip underneath NFC antenna and separate it from back cover as previously done for removing protective foil.
Apply gentle heat to the old NFC antenna using an iOpener for 1 minute when transferring it to the new back cover.
Clean the relevant areas of the phone assembly with isopropyl alcohol (>90%) before applying new adhesive.
Apply steady pressure to your phone for several minutes after installing the back cover to form a strong bond. A stack of heavy books can provide sufficient pressure.
