Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T Rear Glass Replacement

Finger print reader transfer may be required, but check if your replacement part already includes it.

  • Rear glass is broken and needs replacing with a new one for Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T.
  • Transfer the fingerprint reader from old to new rear glass (if necessary).
  • Purchase replacement adhesive for reassembly.

Step 1 | Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T Rear Glass Removal

Switch off your phone.

  • Apply a iOpener to the back of the phone and heat it for at least two minutes to loosen the adhesive.

Secure a suction handle to the rear glass's bottom edge as close as possible.

  • If the rear glass is cracked, try lifting it with strong tape or superglue the suction handle in place and let it cure before proceeding.
  • Lift the rear glass with the suction handle to create a small gap between the glass and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

If you have trouble, apply more heat to further soften the adhesive. Follow iOpener instructions carefully to avoid overheating.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner.

Insert a second opening pick and slide it to the bottom left corner to cut the adhesive.

  • Leave the opening picks in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.
  • Do not remove the suction handle yet; you'll use it later as a rear glass stand.

Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the tip of the opening pick along the side of the phone, starting from the bottom left corner.
  • This will cut the adhesive as you go.

Leave the opening pick in place at the top left corner to prevent resealing.

Reheat iOpener if adhesive becomes hard to cut.

  • opening pick under top left rear glass corner.
  • Slide opening pick along top edge of phone to cut adhesive.
  • Leave pick in top right corner to prevent resealing.

Avoid damaging the fingerprint connector by inserting the opening pick no deeper than 5 mm.

  • Insert a fifth opening pick at the top right corner of the phone.
  • Slide the pick along the right side to cut any remaining adhesive.

Do not fully remove the rear glass yet, as the fingerprint cable remains connected to the motherboard.

Hold the suction handle in place, allowing it to act as a support for the rear glass.

  • Fold the rear glass towards the right side of the phone.

  • Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the fingerprint flex cable.
  • Remove the rear glass.

Power on your phone to test functions, then power it down completely before continuing.

Step 9 | Fingerprint Sensor

Apply a iOpener to the back of the phone near the fingerprint reader and heat it for at least 2 minutes.

Avoid applying excessive heat, which can damage the device's components.

Insert an opening pick under the edge of the fingerprint reader.

  • Slide the opening pick around the edge of the fingerprint reader to release the adhesive.
  • Use the opening pick to carefully separate the adhesive from the fingerprint flex cable.

Remove the fingerprint reader.
