Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Screen Replacement

Never attempt to repair or replace the screen without proper precautions: discharge battery below 25% and verify correct part compatibility.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 screen removal/ replacement requires a discharged battery (< 25%).
  • Verify that your replacement screen is designed for the original frame, not a new chassis.
  • Purchase correct replacement adhesives for both back panel and screen.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Step 1 image

Prepare an iOpener by applying it to the rear glass for at least two minutes to loosen the adhesive underneath.

  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.
  • Be cautious not to overheat the phone as the display and internal battery may be damaged by excessive heat.

Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close as possible.

If the rear glass is cracked, the suction handle may not stick; try lifting it with strong tape or apply superglue and allow it to cure.

  • Lift the rear glass with the suction handle to create a small gap between the back cover and the frame.
  • Apply more heat if needed, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner to slice the adhesive.

Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

Lift the screen using the suction handle to create a small gap between the screen and midframe.
