Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Rear Glass Replacement

Have a set of replacement adhesives ready before proceeding: one for the rear glass and one for the rear camera cover.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Step 1 image

Never apply excessive heat to the phone's components.

  • Prepare an iOpener for use on the rear glass.
  • Apply it to loosen adhesive underneath for at least two minutes.

Alternatively, you can also use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate. However, exercise caution to avoid overheating the phone's display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Attach a suction handle to the rear glass's bottom edge, as close to the edge as possible.

  • If the rear glass is cracked, try lifting with strong tape or superglue the suction handle and let it cure.
  • Lift the rear glass using the suction handle to create a gap between the glass and frame.
  • Apply more heat if necessary, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Do not leave the opening pick unattended as it may reseal the adhesive.

  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.
  • Slide the pick to the bottom right corner to cut the adhesive.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

  • Do not remove the rear glass all the way yet, as the camera cover and fingerprint assembly remain adhered.

Locate the camera cover and fingerprint assembly on the rear glass.

  • Lift the rear glass upwards, pressing down gently on the camera cover with your finger.
  • The camera cover and fingerprint assembly should separate from the rear glass during this process.

If adhesive is too strong, apply a heated iOpener to the camera cover for 1-2 minutes before proceeding.

  • Remove the rear glass completely.
  • Clean areas where new adhesive will be applied with isopropyl alcohol (>90%).
  • Apply new adhesive and secure the rear glass using pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape.
  • Hold your phone firmly in place for several minutes to allow the adhesive to form a strong bond. You can use heavy books on top of the device to apply even pressure.
