Double-check your replacement parts, including the rear glass and a compatible fingerprint sensor, before proceeding.
Apply a iOpener to the rear glass and heat it for at least 2 minutes.
Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.
If your rear glass is badly cracked, consider covering it with clear packing tape for better suction cup adhesion.
Insert an opening pick into the gap, then slide it to the bottom right corner to slice the adhesive.
Insert a second opening pick at the bottom left corner.
Do not remove the opening picks once inserted, as this may cause the adhesive to reseal.
Apply heat with your iOpener if the adhesive is hard to cut.
Insert a fourth opening pick under the top left corner of the rear glass.
Insert a fifth opening pick in the top-right corner.
Do not attempt to fully remove the rear glass yet.
Avoid damaging the fingerprint flex cable by keeping it relaxed.
Fold the rear glass to the left side, similar to opening a book's front cover.
Remove the screws from the connector cover using a Phillips screwdriver.
Remove the connector cover with a pair of tweezers.
Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully pry up and release the battery flex cable from the motherboard.
Separate the back cover, including the fingerprint sensor, from the phone assembly for easier handling.
Use the pointed end of a spudger to raise the black flap on the ZIF connector into an upright position.
Use tweezers to pull the fingerprint flex cable straight out of the ZIF connector.
Heat an iOpener until warm.
Use a precision pry tool to carefully slide under the orange flex cable and its ZIF connector, separating it from the rear glass.
Position the opening pick at the edge of the fingerprint sensor.
Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable from its socket.
Be careful not to damage any surrounding components during removal.
