Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Battery Replacement

Discharge battery below 25% for safety and prevent thermal events.

  • Consider removing loudspeaker and main flex cable for easier handling during battery removal.
  • Take precautions if your battery is swollen.

You'll need replacement adhesive to reattach components when reassembling.

Step 1 | Loosen the rear glass adhesive

Step 1 image

Apply a iOpener to the rear glass and heat it.

  • Hold the iOpener in place for at least two minutes.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.

  • For badly cracked rear glass, cover with clear packing tape for improved suction.
  • Alternatively, use strong tape instead of the suction cup or apply superglue.

Be cautious not to overheat the adhesive while using heat – follow iOpener instructions carefully.

  • Lift the rear glass with the suction handle to create a small gap between the glass and frame.
  • If needed, apply more heat to soften the adhesive further.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.
  • Slide the pick to the bottom right corner to slice the adhesive.

Step 3 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive

  • Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.
  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge of the phone to slice the rear glass adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place at the top left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Avoid applying force that may damage the battery.

  • Use blunt nose tweezers to peel off the black end of the left pull tab from the battery.
  • Pull slowly towards the bottom, maintaining tension on the strip without forcing it.
  • Avoid pressing down on the battery and instead hold the device firmly by its sides.
  • Maintain a flat and unwrinkled strip while pulling evenly across the whole surface.

Do not pry under the battery if the strip breaks off; instead, retrieve it using your fingers or tweezers and continue to pull gently.
