Careful handling and patience are crucial when opening this device.

  • Use a spudger to pry open the device, securing it in place with a guitar pick or similar tool.

When fully open, carefully separate the halves like a book, left side up (screen facing down), to avoid damaging the cable connecting the rear cover to the fingerprint sensor.

Failing to disconnect this cable can cause costly damage requiring major repairs.

Step 3 | Removing the cover

Step 3 image

The repair requires PH00 screws throughout.

  • Remove the screw holding the shield over the flex fingerprint sensor cable (PDF step 2).
  • Use nylon pliers to prevent damaging the flex cable or introducing oils into the device.

  • Remove the shield protecting the flex fingerprint sensor cable (PDF step 3).
  • Gently pry out the orange flex cable with a spudger, then safely store the rear cover (PDF step 4).

Step 4 | Disconnecting the battery

Step 4 image

Remove two screws that secure the shield in place.

  • Disconnect two cables underneath the shield using a spudger.
  • Use nylon pliers or a spudger to remove the shield protector (steps 5-6).

Disconnect the battery to prevent power button circuit issues.

Simply disconnecting cables is sufficient; removing the battery is not necessary.

Step 5 | Removing the vibration motor and speaker
