Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Motherboard Replacement

The battery may catch fire or explode if accidentally punctured or damaged. Charge it below 25% to minimize this risk before disassembling.

Insert a SIM card ejector tool (or an unfolded ) into the small hole on the left side.

  • Press gently to eject the SIM tray.
  • Remove the ejected SIM tray from the device.
  • To reinsert, orient the SIM card with gold contacts up and notch bottom right.
  • Reinsert the SIM card gently into its slot to avoid damage.

Insert a putty knife or opening tool into the seam between the phone's back cover and front cover.

  • Run the tool along the seam to loosen the back cover.
  • Pry and wiggle the back cover until it comes loose.
  • Open the back cover slightly and locate the flex cable near the top, connected to the front-facing camera.
  • Avoid tearing the flex cable by gently pulling the back cover off.

  • Disconnect the flex cable using a spudger or tweezers.
  • Remove the phone's back cover.

Ensure the flex cable aligns with its socket before reassembly.

  • Angle the back cover to line up the flex cable over its socket.
  • Use a spudger to snap the cable in place by pressing straight down.

Remove the five screws using a Phillips screwdriver from the plastic covering at the bottom.

Use a spudger to pry open the plastic assembly cover located at the bottom of the device.

  • Insert the flat end of the spudger under the assembly cover and push upwards.
  • Lift the assembly cover off once it's loosened.

  • Disconnect the battery flex cable using the flat end of a spudger.
  • Use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the ribbon cable on the left-hand side.

Locate the right-hand corner of the assembly and insert the flat end of a spudger.

  • Pry upwards with the spudger to release the right-hand corner.
  • Repeat for the left-hand corner, prying up with the spudger.

Be careful not to damage surrounding components.

Use your fingers to carefully lift out the assembly.

Peel back the barcode sticker away from the battery.

  • Grasp the black battery adhesive tab with your fingers and pull outwards firmly until released.
  • Repeat for the second battery adhesive strip.

  • Position the flat-end spudger under the battery.
  • Remove the battery using your fingers.

Disconnect all marked ribbon cables using a spudger.

Remove the eight motherboard screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Remove the small metal piece from the top of the motherboard using tweezers.

Insert an opening tool under the plastic assembly.

  • Apply gentle pressure to pry off the plastic covering.

Insert the flat end of a spudger under the motherboard, prying upwards gently.

  • The goal is to loosen the motherboard from the phone's front cover.
  • Be cautious not to damage any surrounding components.

  • Lift the motherboard from its slot with care.
  • Disconnect the cable using the flat end of a spudger.

Using fingers, carefully lift and remove the motherboard.
