Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S Battery Replacement

Discharging battery below 25% before disassembly prevents potential danger from thermal events.

  • Proceed with caution if your battery is swollen, taking necessary precautions.
  • Use this guide to replace a dead or worn-out Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S battery.

You will need replacement adhesive for reassembly.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Step 1 image

Never apply excessive heat that could damage the display and internal battery.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the back cover for at least two minutes to loosen the adhesive.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate; however, avoid overheating the phone.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Attach a suction handle to the bottom edge of the back cover, as close to the edge as possible.

  • Lift the back cover using the suction handle, creating a small gap between it and the frame.
  • If necessary, apply more heat to further soften the adhesive, following the instructions for the iOpener to avoid overheating.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

A punctured battery risks leakage and fire.

    • Identify the two battery adhesive pull-tabs on the top edge.
    • Use blunt nose tweezers or a clean fingernail to gently peel off both tabs.

    Step 24 | Remove the pull-tab

    Step 24 image

    Thumbnail 3

Grasp the first pull-tab with a pair of tweezers or your fingers.

    • Pull slowly away from the battery towards the top edge, maintaining tension on the strip without forcing it.
    • Do not press down on the battery; hold the phone by its sides.
    • Pull at a low angle to prevent snagging on the battery edge.
    • If the strip breaks off, retrieve it with your fingers or tweezers and continue pulling without prying underneath.

If the adhesive cannot be retrieved, proceed to the next step.

    Step 25

    Step 25 image

    Thumbnail 2
    Thumbnail 3

Repeat the previous pull-tab removal procedure on the second pull-tab.

    • Follow the same steps as before: keep the strip flat and unwrinkled, and pull at a low angle.
    • If the adhesive breaks off underneath the battery, apply a few drops of high concentration (over 90%) isopropyl alcohol under the edge of the battery in the affected area.

Wait about one minute for the alcohol solution to weaken the adhesive. Do not try to forcefully lever the battery out.

    • Use the flat end of a spudger to gently lift the battery.
    • If necessary, apply a few more drops of alcohol to further weaken the adhesive.

Never deform or puncture the battery with your pry tool.

Step 26 | Remove the battery

    Step 26 image

    Thumbnail 2
    Thumbnail 3

    Remove the battery.

    • Do not reinstall a damaged or deformed battery, as this is a potential safety hazard.
    • If there is any remaining alcohol solution, wipe it off or allow it to air dry before installing your new battery.

If using pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape, apply it into the device where the old adhesive was located, not directly onto the battery.

    • Secure the new battery in place by pressing firmly.

Temporarily reconnect the battery to the motherboard before seating it, then disconnect after it's securely in place.
