Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Battery Replacement

If your battery is swollen, take necessary precautions before proceeding.

  • Discharge the battery below 25% for safety.
  • This reduces the risk of a thermal event during repair.

You will need replacement adhesive to reattach components.

Step 1 | Eject the SIM card tray

  • Insert a SIM eject tool, SIM eject bit, or straightened paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray.
  • Press directly into the hole to eject the SIM card tray.
  • Remove the SIM card tray.

Step 2 | Heat the rear glass

Be cautious of overheating — heat damage can occur.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the rear glass for at least two minutes.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate — but avoid overheating.

Step 3 | Secure a suction handle

A cracked rear glass may prevent the suction handle from sticking.

  • Apply strong tape or superglue to secure the suction handle in place for proceeding.

Due to surface imperfections, apply tape or moisten the suction handle for better grip.

  • Position a suction handle near the right edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.

Step 4 | Create a gap

  • Lift the rear glass with a suction handle to create a small gap between the glass and frame.
  • If no gap forms, apply more heat according to the iOpener instructions, being careful not to overheat.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Step 5 | Slice the adhesive

Insert the opening pick into the top right corner and gently slide it across the adhesive.

Do not remove the opening pick until the repair is complete, as this may cause the adhesive to reseal.

Step 6 | Slice the adhesive

Insert another opening pick beside the top right corner.

  • Use it to slide down to the bottom right corner, slicing the adhesive.
  • Leave both picks in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 7 | Slice the adhesive

Check if adhesive has cooled down.

  • iOpener to reheat it.
  • Insert a new opening pick at the bottom right corner of your phone.
  • Slide this pick along the bottom edge to slice adhesive.
  • Leave the original pick in the bottom left corner.

Do not damage the flex cable.

  • Insert a fourth opening pick underneath the bottom left corner of your phone.

  • Slide the opening pick up to the volume button.

  • Stop at the volume button; do not slide further.

Insert a sixth opening pick at the left edge next to the top of the power/volume button cut out.

  • Slice the remaining adhesive along the left edge.
  • Slide the pick around the top left corner and along the top edge to cut the remaining adhesive.

Step 10 | Remove the rear glass

Remove the rear glass.

Use >90% isopropyl alcohol to clean areas where new adhesive will be applied.

  • Apply new adhesive or double-sided tape as needed.
  • Press phone firmly with strong, steady pressure for several minutes after installation to form a good bond.

A stack of heavy books can provide necessary pressure if manual pressing is not possible.

Step 11 | Unscrew the midframe

Remove the midframe using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Start by removing nine 4.4 mm screws in the upper area.
  • Next, remove eight 3.4 mm screws in the lower area.

Step 12 | Insert an opening pick

Locate the midframe plastic clips.

  • Insert an opening pick between the midframe and front panel assembly near the charging port.
  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom left corner to release the plastic clips.

Step 13 | Release the plastic clips

Insert an opening pick into the phone's left edge and gently slide it along the seam, releasing the plastic clips.

Slide a spudger or pick along the top edge to disengage the plastic clips.

Do not attempt to detach the midframe completely at this stage.

  • Slide the opening pick along the right edge to release any remaining plastic clips.
  • Leave the side buttons connected to the motherboard via the flex cable.

Step 16 | Swing open the midframe

Be cautious not to strain the side button flex cable.

  • Swing the midframe open towards the power and volume buttons.
  • Position the midframe near the phone assembly.

Step 17 | Disconnect the power and volume button flex cable

Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully pry up the power and volume button flex cable from the motherboard.

Step 18 | Remove the midframe

Remove the midframe.

Step 19 | Disconnect the battery cable

Disconnect the battery cable by using a spudger to pry the connector directly upwards from its socket.

Step 20 | Remove the black graphite film

Slide an opening pick under the graphite film to loosen its adhesive.

  • Carefully remove the graphite film.

Step 21 | Peel the pull tabs off the battery

Be extremely careful not to puncture or bend the battery when handling it.

  • Use blunt nose tweezers or your clean fingernail to gently peel off the orange adhesive strip marked with a A.
  • Repeat this process for the orange adhesive strip labeled with a B, also using blunt nose tweezers or your clean fingernail.

Step 22 | Lift the battery out of its recess

Grasp the orange adhesive strip with label A and gently pull it up to lift the battery out of its recess.

Adhesive tabs may require considerable force, so be cautious not to damage them or the surrounding area. If removal proves difficult:

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the center of the display and let it sit for a few minutes to loosen the adhesive underneath.

Step 23 | Remove the battery

  • Peel the battery off the remaining adhesive.

  • Remove the battery.

  • Temporarily reconnect the battery to the motherboard during reassembly to aid alignment.

  • Disconnect the battery after it is seated.

Step 24 | Peel off the remaining adhesive

Remove the battery's adhesive sticker from the midframe.
