Xiaomi Redmi 2 Screen Assembly Replacement
This guide is for removing and replacing parts on the Xiaomi Redmi 2 screen assembly, including repairs and replacements.
Step 1 | Motherboard
Remove the back panel using the flat end of a spudger.
- Insert the spudger under the back panel at the seam between the mid-frame and front body.
- Gently pry up the back panel, working your way around the edges until it comes loose.
Step 2
Locate the curved mid-frame opening.
- Insert a single digit into the curved opening.
- Lift the battery out of its compartment.
Step 3
- Remove any installed SIM and memory cards.
- Take out twelve 3.4 mm Phillips #000 screws that secure the mid-frame.
Step 4
Insert spudger between mid-frame and front body.
- Pry apart slowly by sliding spudger along perimeter.
Step 5
Remove the 3.4 mm Phillips #000 screw holding the motherboard to the front body.
- Set it aside separately from the other screws.
Step 6
Hold the tweezers firmly and use one prong to carefully pry back the brown clip covering the LCD ribbon connector.
Step 7
Use the tweezers to carefully pry the ribbon clip loose with one prong.
- Pry the ribbon clip away from the motherboard.
Step 8
Use your fingers to lift and hinge the motherboard.
Step 9
Use the tweezers to carefully pry back the metal clip covering the front proximity sensor ribbon connector with one of its prongs.
Step 10
- Hold the motherboard steady and use the tweezers to gently pull out the antenna connector.
Step 11
Remove the motherboard from the front cover and place it to one side.
Step 12 | Front Speaker
Use a nylon or metal spudger to carefully pry the front speaker away from the screen assembly.
Step 13
Use your fingers to carefully lift the front speaker away from the screen assembly.
Step 14 | PCB Circuit Board
Remove the 2.9 mm Phillips #000 screw holding the PCB circuit board to the screen assembly.
Step 15
Use tweezers to carefully lift the antenna connector off the PCB circuit board.
Step 16
Do not remove the PCB circuit board at this time.
- Gently pry back the top of the PCB circuit board using a nylon or metal spudger.
- The PCB is secured to the screen assembly.
Step 17
Use a nylon or metal spudger to pry open the silver clip over the ribbon connector.
Step 18
- Lift the PCB circuit board carefully from the screen assembly.
- Set it aside and proceed with repairing or replacing the screen assembly.
