Xiaomi Mi Note Screen Replacement

This guide will walk you through replacing the screen display on your Xiaomi Mi Note.

Step 1 | Dual SIM SD Card

Locate the Dual SIM SD card slot on the left side of the phone.

Insert the Dual SIM SD card removal tool or a paper clip into the slot hole.

Continue inserting until the tray pops out to prevent damage.

Step 3 | Battery

Attach the suction cup to the back of the phone.

Be careful not to apply too much pressure — risk of damaging the phone's casing.

  • Pull back with moderate force until the back plate snaps free.

Locate and remove the screws marked in the image, which hold the frame in place.

  • Remove six 3.5mm Phillips #000 black screws from the securing part of the back panels.
  • Remove seven 2.5mm Phillips #000 black screws from the securing part of the back panels.
  • Remove five 2mm Phillips #000 silver screws from the remaining back panels.

Use a nylon spudger to gently pry the ribbon connection between the battery and the motherboard upwards.

Be careful not to press too hard on the battery, as glue may hold it in place.

  • Insert a nylon or metal spudger underneath the battery at any point.
  • Slide the spudger around all edges to loosen the battery from its adhesive backing.
  • Lift the battery out of the frame, taking care not to dislodge the adhesive residue.

Step 7 | Screen

Detach the motherboard ribbons using an upward prying motion with a spudger.

Use minimal force when detaching the small ribbon on the left side near the volume buttons to avoid damage.

  • Detach the microphone cord located on the right side along the frame using an upwards prying motion with tweezers.
  • Using tweezers, carefully detach the small ribbon on the left side near the volume buttons with an upwards prying motion.

Remove the motherboard from its frame using a tweezer.

  • The Dual SIM card and tray must be already removed.

Remove the ribbon cable from the metal bracket by gently peeling it away.

Use minimal force when removing the dock connector to prevent damage.

  • Using tweezers, slowly pry upwards at the locations shown in the images.
  • Pry carefully around the edges of the dock connector.
  • Lift the dock connector out of the frame once prying is complete.

Use a spudger to pry the top two ribbon connectors away from the motherboard and touch sensor. Apply upward pressure.

Use tweezers to lift the two remaining ribbons from the bottom frame, grasping them at any point and lifting towards the bottom.

Be careful not to damage the ribbons during this process.

The ribbons should now be able to slide freely through their respective slits once you have loosened the screen enough to pull it away from the frame for later reassembly.

Peel back the ribbon attached to the back metal frame.

  • Use your spudger at any point to get underneath the metal frame.
  • Slide the spudger around the sides of the metal to free it from the frame.
  • The removal is aided by small amounts of adhesive.

Careful: the glass screen may break.

  • Apply considerable force to the back corners with a spudger to loosen adhesive.
  • Wedge the spudger around the front edge to release adhesive from edges and frame.
