Xiaomi Mi A2 Front Camera Replacement

Step 1 | Screen

Turn off your phone before starting work.

  • Remove the SIM card tray from the phone.
  • Ensure safety by touching a metallic object to discharge static electricity.

Remove the two 2.7mm Pentalobe #2 screws from the bottom of the phone.

Attach a suction cup tool near the phone's bottom.

  • Pull up on the suction cup to gently lift the LCD Panel.
  • Insert a plastic opening tool at the bottom gap and slide it around the edges.
  • Use the plastic opening tool and picks to unhook clips, separating the panel from the phone body.

The screen is sensitive; handle with care.

  • Flip the screen towards the bottom of the device and lay it face down.
  • The ribbon cable is in the middle, so be cautious not to snag it.

Bending or folding the ribbon cable excessively can cause damage.

  • Remove the ribbon cable from its connectors, taking care to avoid excessive bending.
  • Uninstall and replace the ribbon cable with a new one if necessary.

The ribbon cable must be handled carefully during installation and removal.

  • Remove the metal bracket to access the ribbon cable connectors.
  • Unscrew the three 2.4mm Philips #0 screws holding the panel in place.

  • Remove the battery connector ribbon cable using a plastic spudger, getting underneath the connector.
  • Lift the screen connector ribbon cable off from underneath, also using a plastic spudger.

The panel should now be free to remove and replace.

Step 6 | USB Port

Remove the two 3.8mm Phillips #0 screws securing the lower metal bracket.

Disconnect power source before starting.

  • Remove the Xiaomi water sticker.
  • Remove three 2.4mm Phillips #0 screws:
    • Upper right (under Xiaomi sticker)
    • Other two as needed

Be careful not to damage the sticker.

Use a spudger to unplug the antenna wire.

  • Locate and remove the 2.4mm Phillips #0 screw next to the vibration motor.

Never touch any internal components — risk of electric shock.

  • Flip the sub-board over towards the battery to access the ribbon cable connector.
  • Use a spudger tool to remove the ribbon cable from its connector.
  • The USB Connector board can now be safely removed and replaced.

Step 10 | Battery

Proceed with caution — avoid bending or puncturing the battery.

  • Locate the two pull tabs on the bottom of the battery, glued like a sticker.
  • Use tweezers to gently lift and pull the pull tabs downwards. The adhesive will slowly release from the battery.

Remove battery from its housing with care.

  • The component can now be replaced.

Step 12 | Front Camera

Use a plastic spudger to carefully pry the front camera ribbon cable away from the motherboard.

Use plastic tip tweezers to carefully remove the front camera from its position at the back of the phone.
