Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Screen Replacement

Make sure the battery is discharged below 25% to avoid fire or explosion risk when handling it.

  • Verify that you have the correct replacement screen, which may be pre-installed in a new frame (chassis) requiring a different procedure.
  • Purchase and prepare replacement adhesives for rear glass and screen.

If your battery is swollen, take necessary precautions to avoid damage or risk of explosion.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Step 1 image

Prepare an iOpener by applying it to the rear glass for at least two minutes.

  • The adhesive underneath will loosen during this time.

Use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate with caution: excessive heat can damage the display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Attach a suction handle to the rear glass's lower edge, as close as possible.

If the glass is cracked, the suction handle may not stick – try securing it with strong tape or superglue and let it cure.

  • Lift the rear glass using the suction handle to create a small gap between the back cover and frame.
  • If needed, apply more heat to soften the adhesive further (follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating).

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

  • Slide the opening pick towards the bottom right corner to cut the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

Step 3 image

Insert another opening pick at the phone's bottom edge.

  • Guide this new pick to the bottom left corner, using it to slice through the adhesive.
  • Leave both opening picks in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 4 | Slice the adhesive

Step 4 image

Reheat the adhesive with the iOpener for 1-2 minutes if it's hard to cut.

  • Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner of your phone.
  • Slide the opening pick along the left edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place at the top left corner to prevent resealing.

Step 5

Insert the opening pick under the top left corner.

  • Slide it down the top edge to cut the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in the top right corner to hold the adhesive open.

Step 6

Be cautious not to apply excessive force.

  • Insert a fifth opening pick under the top right corner of the device.
  • Slide the pick along the right edge, slicing remaining adhesive on the rear glass.

Do not attempt to remove the rear glass completely yet, as it may still be adhered due to camera area adhesive.

Step 7 | Loosen the rear camera adhesive

Step 7 image

Insert a plastic card at the right edge of the phone, near the rear camera.

  • Slice the adhesive along the rear camera frame using the plastic card.

The rear glass may stick to the rear camera adhesive. If so, carefully continue with this step.

Step 8 | Remove the rear glass

  • Apply strong, steady pressure to your phone for several minutes after installing the rear glass.

    • A stack of heavy books works well as a press.

  • Be cautious of adhesive holding the display cable in place.
  • Slide the tip of the tool under the display flex connector and continue to pry until it separates from the midframe.

Step 19 | Loosen the display adhesive

Step 19 image

Careful not to overheat the device.

  • Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to loosen the adhesive underneath the screen.
  • Use the iOpener for at least two minutes.
