Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Battery Replacement

Discharge the battery below 25% for safe disassembly and prevent thermal events.

  • Use this guide for Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro battery replacement, taking precautions if the battery is swollen.
  • You'll need new adhesive for reattaching components during reassembly.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Step 1 image

Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the rear glass for at least two minutes.

Excessive heat can damage the display or internal battery, so be cautious when using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate if you choose to use one.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.

If the rear glass is cracked, the suction handle may not stick; try lifting it with strong tape or apply superglue and allow it to cure before proceeding.

  • Lift the rear glass with the suction handle to create a small gap between the back cover and frame.
  • If you have trouble creating a gap, apply more heat to soften the adhesive; follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the gap, then slide it to the bottom right corner to slice the adhesive.

Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom edge.

  • Move it toward the bottom left corner and slide it along the adhesive.
  • Leave both picks in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 4 | Slice the adhesive

Reheat the adhesive with your iOpener for 1-2 minutes if it becomes hard to cut.

  • Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner of your phone.
  • Slide this pick along the left edge to slice the adhesive, then leave it in place.

Insert a fifth opening pick under the top right corner.

  • Slide the opening pick along the right edge to slice remaining adhesive.

Insert a plastic spudger or credit card into the gap between the rear glass and rear camera.

Remove the rear glass.

  • Clean the relevant areas with isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and apply new adhesive where needed.
  • Secure the new rear glass using either pre-cut adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape.
  • Apply strong, steady pressure to your phone for several minutes after installing the rear glass to help form a good bond.

  • A stack of heavy books can be used to apply even pressure.

Step 9 | Unfasten the motherboard cover screws

Remove the motherboard cover using a Phillips screwdriver. You will need to unscrew:

  • Eleven 3.9mm Phillips screws
  • One 2.3mm Phillips screw

Use a spudger to pry the interconnect cable connector straight up out of its socket.

Avoid sharp bends when handling the interconnect flex cable to prevent damage.

  • Fold the interconnect flex cable towards the charging port for better access.

Repeat the pull-tab procedure for the remaining two tabs.

  • Use blunt nose tweezers or a clean fingernail to peel the orange adhesive strip (2) from one battery.
  • Peel the orange adhesive strip (3) from the other battery using similar tools.

Step 17 | Lift the battery

Step 17 image

Hold the pull-tab end marked with a 3 and gently pull up on the orange adhesive strip to remove the battery.

Be prepared for possible resistance from the adhesive tabs, which can require some force to separate.

Alternatively, if the battery is stuck in place, apply a heated iOpener to the center of the display to loosen the underlying adhesive before removal.

Step 18 | Remove the battery

Step 18 image

Thumbnail 2

Peel off the battery from the remaining adhesive.

  • Remove the battery completely.

Never reinstall a damaged or deformed battery — safety hazard risk.

  • Secure the new battery with pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape.

For correct positioning, apply new adhesive at old locations, not directly on the battery.

  • Firmly press the new battery into place.

Temporarily reconnect battery to motherboard during reassembly for alignment — disconnect after seating.
