Xiaomi Mi 9 Motherboard Cover with Charging Coil / NFC Replacement

You will damage the device if you do not use replacement adhesive during reassembly.

  • Follow this guide to remove or replace the motherboard cover, including charging coil and NFC antenna, in the Xiaomi Mi 9.
  • When reassembling, use replacement adhesive for components.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Switch off your phone.

  • Heat the iOpener and apply it to the rear glass for at least two minutes.

Beware of burns from hot tools.

Secure a suction handle near the lower edge of the rear glass.

If the rear glass is cracked, try using strong tape or superglue to secure the suction handle before proceeding.

  • Lift the rear glass with the suction handle to create a gap between the glass and the frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Apply more heat if necessary, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner of the phone.

Insert a second opening pick

  • Slide it to the bottom left corner to cut the adhesive.
  • Leave both opening picks in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the opening pick along the side, starting from the bottom left corner.
  • Be careful of rear cameras and only insert the tip.

  • If necessary, reheat with an iOpener as adhesive hardens when cooled.

Leave the opening pick in the top left corner to prevent resealing.

Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner of the rear glass.

  • Slide the pick along the top to cut the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in the top right corner to prevent resealing.

  • Insert a fifth opening pick into the top right corner.
  • Slide the pick down the right edge to sever any remaining adhesive.

Step 7

Remove the rear glass carefully.

  • Take out any leftover adhesive.
  • Clean the stuck parts with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

Step 8 | Motherboard Cover with Charging Coil

Remove 10 Phillips #00 screws, 3mm in length, securing the motherboard cover.

  • Some screws may have a tamper-evident sticker.

Insert an opening pick at the top right corner of the motherboard cover.

  • Twist the opening pick sideways to gently pry up and slightly lift the motherboard cover.

Step 10

Remove the motherboard cover, including the charging coil and NFC antenna.
