This guide will help you repair or replace a faulty loudspeaker unit on your Xiaomi Mi 9. To complete this task, you'll require new adhesive for reattaching components during reassembly.
Switch off your phone.
Attach a suction handle to the lower edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.
Use the suction handle to lift the rear glass and create a gap between the glass and the frame.
The suction handle may not stick if the rear glass is cracked; use tape or superglue in this case.
Leave both opening picks in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.
Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.
Be cautious of the rear cameras and only insert the tip of the opening pick.
Insert the fifth opening pick into the top right corner.
Remove the rear glass carefully.
Clean all remaining adhesive from the phone using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to prevent re-adhesion.
Remove all ten Phillips #00 screws, 3 mm in length.
Some screws may have a tamper-evident sticker.
Insert opening pick into the top right corner of the motherboard cover.
Twist the opening pick sideways carefully, as excessive force may damage components.
Be cautious when removing the motherboard cover, as it may be attached to the charging coil or NFC antenna.
Disconnect the battery flex cable by prying it loose with a spudger.
Be cautious when removing screws as some may be hidden under tamper-proof stickers.
Insert an opening pick at the right side of the loudspeaker unit.
Remove the antenna cable from the back of the unit.
Be careful not to damage the loudspeaker unit when lifting.
Check your old loudspeaker for components that may need transferring to the new part, such as the antenna flex cable with coax connector, before reassembly.
