Xiaomi Mi 9 Front Camera Replacement

You will require replacement adhesive for reassembly.

  • Follow this guide to remove and replace a faulty front camera.
  • The Xiaomi Mi 9 uses adhesive strips for component attachment; additional replacement adhesive will be needed.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Step 1 image

Switch off your phone.

  • Apply a iOpener to the rear glass and heat it for at least two minutes.

Secure a suction handle to the lower edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.

If the rear glass is cracked, the suction handle may not stick; try using strong tape or superglue it in place and let it cure before proceeding.

  • Lift the rear glass with the suction handle to create a gap between the glass and the frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

If needed, apply more heat to further soften the adhesive; follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner of the phone.

Step 3

Insert a second opening pick and guide it to the bottom left corner.

Leaving the opening picks in place will prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the opening pick along the side, starting from the bottom left corner, to cut the adhesive.
  • Be careful not to touch the rear cameras; only insert the tip of the opening pick.
  • If necessary, use your iOpener to reheat the adhesive as it cools and hardens.

  • Leave the opening pick in the top left corner to prevent resealing.
