Xiaomi Mi 8 Rear Glass Replacement

Ensure you have a replacement adhesive set before proceeding, as proper reassembly requires secure component attachment.

  • Start by carefully removing the rear glass using a suitable removal tool.
  • Proceed with component disconnection and removal, taking note of any sensitive areas or connectors.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Step 1 image

Apply a iOpener to the rear glass and heat it.

  • Leave the iOpener on the glass for at least two minutes.

Secure a suction handle to the lower edge of the rear glass as close to the edge as possible.

  • If the rear glass is cracked, try lifting it with strong tape or superglue the suction handle in place and allow it to cure before proceeding.
  • Lift the rear glass with the suction handle to create a gap between the glass and frame.

Insert an opening pick into the gap.

If the glass does not budge, apply more heat to further soften the adhesive, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner of the phone.

Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the opening pick along the side of the device, starting from the bottom left corner, to cut the adhesive.
  • Be careful not to cut the fingerprint flex cable when using the tip of the opening pick.

  • If necessary, use your iOpener to reheat the adhesive as it becomes harder to cut once cooled.
  • Leave the opening pick in the top left corner to prevent resealing.
