Potential safety hazard: Reusing a deformed lithium-ion battery after forcefully removing it.
This guide replaces the AMOLED Screen & Digitizer while leaving original frame and motherboard intact. Proceed with caution, as incorrect part or improper installation may result in device malfunction or damage.
Apply a iOpener to the rear glass, heating it until warm.
Wait for at least two minutes before proceeding.
Secure a suction handle to the lower edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.
If the glass doesn't budge, apply more heat using the iOpener instructions, taking care not to overheat.
Insert a second opening pick at the bottom left corner, sliding it to cut the adhesive.
Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.
Be careful not to cut the fingerprint flex cable; only insert the tip of the pick.
Insert a fourth opening pick under the top left corner of the rear glass.
Insert fifth opening pick into top-right corner of phone.
Hold the rear glass firmly in place with one hand, then carefully lift and fold it to the left.
Be sure to remove any remaining adhesive from the phone before applying new adhesive, using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth for cleaning.
Remove the motherboard cover and the NFC antenna together.
Locate the battery flex cable at the bottom of the motherboard.
Use tweezers to gently peel off the black ends of the adhesive tabs from the battery.
Be gentle when pulling out the adhesive tab under the battery.
Remove the first adhesive tab located under the battery.
Apply gentle pressure with an opening pick or plastic card to release the battery from its recess.
Reusing a deformed or bent battery can be hazardous.
Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the display flex cable.
Peel the display flex cable away from the midframe using a pair of tweezers, as it's held by mild adhesive.
Apply a heated iOpener to the display for 2 minutes to loosen the adhesive.
The adhesive is strong, so you may need to reheat and reapply the iOpener multiple times to get it warm enough.
Apply a suction handle near the phone's bottom edge.
If the screen is cracked, use strong tape or superglue the suction handle in place and let it cure before proceeding.
Protect your eyes from loose glass shards.
Insert the opening pick near the bottom right corner and leave it there to prevent resealing of the adhesive.
Insert the second opening pick into the bottom left corner of the device.
Leave the pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.
Insert a third opening pick at the bottom left corner.
Do not try to insert the pick deeper than necessary.
Apply additional heat if adhesive becomes difficult to cut.
Insert the fifth opening pick tip into the top right corner of the phone.
Be cautious not to remove the display all the way, as the display flex cable is still threaded through the midframe.
Slowly separate the screen from the frame.
Do not proceed without safely routing the flex cable.
