Xiaomi Mi 4 Motherboard Replacement

Verify the device is powered down.

• Insert a pin or paper clip into the hole beside the micro SIM card slot on the side of the phone to eject the tray.
• Remove the SIM card tray from the Xiaomi Mi 4 and secure it safely elsewhere.

• Insert a flat metal spudger and curved metal spudger between the plastic back cover and inner frame.
• Slowly work around the device's perimeter with the curved spudger, listening for clicking sounds as you pry the back cover away.

Be careful not to damage the back cover as it separates from the frame.

• Once almost completely removed, use a suction-cup tool to finish separating the plastic cover without damaging it further.

Remove the 10 x 1.2mm Phillips head screws from the plastic frame using a 000 Phillips head screwdriver.

• Next, remove the 3 x 0.5mm Phillips head screws from the plastic frame.
• Pry off the inner frame by inserting a small plastic opening tool into the slot at the bottom right corner and gently levering it open.

Disconnect the battery connectors using tweezers.

• Remove the tape-like battery connector completely.
• Disconnect the battery wire from the motherboard using tweezers.

Remove the battery from its casing using a plastic opening tool.

Locate the left-hand cable connected to the motherboard.

• Firmly grasp the wires with the tweezers, then gently disconnect the cable from the motherboard.
• Remove the other cable connecting the motherboard to the device at the top right-hand side of the phone using the tweezers.

Insert plastic opening tool into the gap above the motherboard, carefully prying it open.
