Xiaomi Mi 4 Front Facing Camera Replacement

  • Remove the back cover of the Xiaomi Mi 4.
  • Disconnect the battery from the device.
  • Locate and remove the camera components from the motherboard.

Ensure the device is completely powered down.

  • Insert a pin or paper clip into the hole next to the micro SIM cardholder on the side of the phone.
  • The tray should eject. Remove and store it safely for reinstallation later.

Careful when separating the back cover — risk of damage to surrounding components.

  • Insert a flat metal spudger between the back cover and inner frame, making a small wedge.
  • Slowly work around the perimeter with the curved metal spudger, listening for clicking sounds.
  • Use a suction-cup tool to remove the plastic cover once it's almost fully separated from the frame.

  • Remove the 10 x 1.2mm Phillips head screws from the plastic frame using a 000 Phillips head screwdriver.
  • Remove the 3 x 0.5mm Phillips head screws from the plastic frame using a 000 Phillips head screwdriver.
  • Be careful when prying off the inner frame as it may be fragile.

  • Pry the inner frame off by inserting the small plastic opening tool into the slot on the bottom right corner and gently levering it open.

Step 4 | Battery

Disconnect the battery cables using tweezers.

  • Gently remove the tape-like connector from the battery.
  • Use tweezers to disconnect the battery's wire from the motherboard.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully remove the battery from its casing.

Step 6 | Motherboard

Locate the left-hand cable connected to the motherboard.

  • Firmly grasp the wires with a pair of tweezers and gently disconnect the cable from the motherboard.
  • Find the other cable at the top right-hand side of the phone and carefully remove it using the tweezers.

Insert the plastic opening tool into the gap above the motherboard, between it and the internal phone components.

Step 8 | Front Facing Camera

Locate the front camera in the upper left-hand corner.

  • Disconnect the front-facing camera cable from the motherboard using a pair of tweezers.
