Xiaomi Mi 4 Display Assembly Replacement

Ensure the device is completely powers down.

• Insert a pin or paper clip into the hole next to the micro SIM card holder.
• Pry out the SIM card tray from the Xiaomi Mi 4 and set it aside securely.

Remove the plastic back cover using a combination of spudgers.

• Create a wedge between the back cover and inner frame with the flat metal spudger.
• Slowly work around the perimeter using the curved metal spudger.
• Listen for clicking sounds as you pry the back cover away.

Once almost removed, use a suction-cup tool to carefully remove it.

Remove the 10 x 1.2mm Phillips head screws using a 000 Phillips head screwdriver.

• Remove the 3 x 0.5mm Phillips head screws from the same area.
• Carefully pry off the inner frame by inserting a small plastic opening tool into the slot at the bottom right corner and gently lifting it out.

Never touch electrical components with your bare hands — risk of electric shock.

• Disconnect connections across the battery using a pair of tweezers.
• Remove tape-like connector from the battery until it's completely off.
• Use tweezers to disconnect the wire from the motherboard.

Remove the battery from its casing using a plastic opening tool.

Locate the left-hand cable connected to the motherboard.

• Firmly grasp the wires with the tweezers, then gently disconnect the cable.
• Find the top right-hand side motherboard connection and carefully remove the second cable using the tweezers.

Insert the plastic opening tool into the slot atop the motherboard, prying it between the motherboard and inner phone casing.

Remove the back cover, battery, and motherboard.

• Turn the phone over with LCD side facing up.
• Firmly attach a suction cup to the screen.
• Insert a plastic opening tool around the perimeter of the screen and maintain pulling force on the suction cup.

Locate and gently pull the ribbon wire through the hole.

• Pull the wire out with care, taking note of its original route.

Dispose of the LCD screen properly if it's cracked to avoid injury from broken glass.
