Xiaomi Mi 4 Battery Replacement
Old batteries can often be recharged, but if not, they'll need replacement. To safely remove your mobile device's battery, follow these steps:
- Determine whether the battery is removable or non-removable.
- Locate the battery release button and press it to unlock the battery compartment.
- Gently pull the battery out of its compartment.
Step 1 | Rear Case/Midframe
Ensure the device is completely powered off.
- Insert a pin or paper clip into the hole on the side of the phone, next to the micro SIM card holder.
- Press in gently to release the SIM card tray from the Xiaomi Mi 4.
The device is now vulnerable to damage. Handle it with care.
Step 2
Using a flat metal spudger, create a wedge between the plastic back cover and inner frame.
- Slowly work your way around the perimeter with the curved metal spudger.
- Listen for clicking sounds as you pry the back cover away from the frame.
Avoid damaging the back by using a suction-cup tool when removing the plastic cover near the end of the process.
Step 3
Remove 10 1.2mm Phillips head screws from the plastic frame with a 000 Phillips head screwdriver.
- Next, remove 3 0.5mm Phillips head screws from the plastic frame.
- Pry off the inner frame using a small plastic opening tool and careful force, starting at the bottom right corner of the slot.
Step 4 | Battery
Disconnect the battery wires using tweezers and a gentle touch.
- Gently pull away the tape-like battery connector until it is completely removed.
- Caution: Use tweezers to disconnect the battery's wire from the motherboard.
Step 5
Use a plastic opening tool to carefully remove the battery from its casing.
