Step 1 | Battery

Press the SIM card removal tool firmly into the top hole.

  • The SIM card tray will be ejected from its slot.

Remove the two Phillips head screws at the top of the phone, one on either side where the SIM card was ejected.

Note that removing a screw hidden under an orange sticker may void your warranty in certain jurisdictions, specifically the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.

Use caution: potential for screen damage with pry tool.

  • Insert a pry tool into the small gap between the screen and frame at the top edge of the phone.
  • Gently begin to separate the screen from the rest of the phone.

Be cautious not to damage the phone's screen or internal components.

  • Insert a pry tool into the phone.
  • Slide it around the perimeter, gently lifting until the screens and back panel separate.

The rear casing is now detached from the display.

Place the front panel screen side down with the camera at the top.

  • Remove six Phillips head screws located at the upper half of the phone.
  • Identify and remove a Phillips head screw located under an orange sticker at the top right corner of the panel.
  • The orange sticker can be removed with a pair of tweezers.

Remove the three bottom screws on the back panel.

Remove the rubber dust cover from the back panel using a pair of tweezers.

Insert the pry tool into the edge of the plastic cover on the bottom of the back panel.

Gently lift upwards to avoid damaging surrounding components.

Insert a pry tool into the upper edge of the back panel and gently lift.

Some models may have the NFC antenna glued to the top cover; refer to the touchscreen guide for special removal procedures on these models, which require battery removal before top cover removal.

Use a spudger to disconnect the small ribbon cable from the battery.

Be prepared for some force as the battery is secured by strong adhesive and may require extra effort to remove.

  • Grip the "Battery Removal" tab located on the left side of the battery and gently pull up.
  • Some resistance may be met due to double sided tape, so apply gentle yet firm pressure as needed.

The battery has been successfully removed.

Step 14 | Motherboard

Use the pry tool to disconnect the antenna wire from its connector on the lower left side of the motherboard.

  • Locate the LCD display cable, which is a rectangular metallic piece at the lower right side of the motherboard.
  • Use a pry tool to carefully separate the cable from the motherboard.

Insert the pry tool under the wide end of the gold ribbon cable, then lift upwards to release.

Insert the pry tool under the rectangular metallic piece on the top right of the motherboard.

  • Lift the metal piece gently to separate the cable ribbon from the motherboard.

Insert the p Pry Tool under the rectangular metallic piece on the top right of the motherboard, near the previously separated cable.

Gently lift the piece to separate the cable ribbon from the motherboard.

Use a pry tool to carefully lift the side control buttons assembly away from the case.

  • The assembly should be loosely connected to the motherboard.

Remove the screws.

Use a pry tool to lift the motherboard from the panel, starting at the top edge.

  • Insert the pry tool into the top edge of the panel.
  • Lift the motherboard up and away from the panel.

The motherboard is safely out.

Step 23 | Rear Facing Camera

Use a pry tool to carefully detach the camera's ribbon cable from the motherboard.

  • The motherboard should have already been removed prior to this step.
  • Gently pry the connector open with the tool, working slowly and carefully.

Step 24

Remove the rear-facing camera from the panel.

  • Verify that the camera has been successfully removed.
