Xiaomi Mi 3 Battery Replacement

Recharging a lithium-ion battery can shorten its lifespan, eventually reducing charge capacity.

  • Lithium-ion batteries are prone to degradation from frequent recharging.
  • Watch for signs of battery failure: increased recharging frequency.
  • Faulty or damaged batteries can cause phone damage through swelling, overheating, or electrolyte leaks.

Prior to starting, power off your phone completely and disconnect from any external power source.

Press the SIM card removal tool firmly into the top hole.

  • Eject the SIM card tray from its slot.

Note that removing these screws may void your warranty, and doing so is prohibited by law in some jurisdictions.

  • Remove two Phillips head screws, one located under an orange sticker.
  • The other screw is situated near the SIM card ejection slot on the opposite side of the phone.

Careful not to damage the phone's screen or internal components.

  • Insert a pry tool into the gap between the screen and frame at the upper edge of the phone.
  • Use the pry tool to start separating the screen from the rest of the phone.

Use caution when handling the pry tool, risk of damage to the phone's screen or internal components.

  • Insert the pry tool into the phone and slide it around the perimeter while gently lifting.
  • The screen panel and back panel should separate as you continue to lift.

Remove any additional components holding the screen in place.

  • Separate the screen from the phone's chassis by gently prying it loose with a flathead tool, such as a credit card or plastic spudger.

Place the front panel screen side down on a flat surface, ensuring the camera is at the top.

  • Remove the six Phillips head screws located in the upper half of the phone.
  • Locate and remove the orange sticker from the top right corner of the panel, using a pair of tweezers if necessary.
  • Remove the Phillips head screw underneath the removed sticker.

Remove the three screws from the bottom of the back panel.

Remove dust cover from back panel using tweezers.

Insert pry tool into edge and gently lift plastic cover.

Remove the upper plastic cover from the back panel using a pry tool, inserting it into the upper edge and gently lifting.

  • If your model has the NFC antenna glued to the top cover, you must remove the battery first as the cover cannot be removed separately.
  • For such models, refer to the touchscreen guide for specific removal instructions.

Use a spudger to disconnect the small ribbon cable from the battery.

Locate the Battery Removal tab attached to the left side of the battery.

  • Grip the tab firmly and pull up on it.
  • Be prepared for some force to be required, as the battery is secured with double-sided tape.

Remove the battery from the panel.
