Xiaomi Mi 2 Screen Replacement Replacement
This repair may require transferring components from the old screen, including the backplate and small parts.
- Follow this guide for replacing the Xiaomi Mi A2 screen.
- New adhesive is required to reattach the bracket, earpiece, and dust filter (if necessary).
Step 1 | Remove screws and sim card
Disconnect power to the device by removing Pentalobe screws.
- Remove SIM card(s).
Step 2 | Remove adhesive
Insert the opening pick into the middle of the phone, as shown in the second image.
- The screen will start to loosen due to lightly adhesive holding it in place.
- Take another opening pick and slide it carefully around the whole screen.
Be cautious not to insert the opening pick too far, which could damage the ribbon cable inside.
Step 3 | Loose the screen
Do not remove the screen yet – it's still attached by a ribbon cable.
- Flip the screen carefully, as the ribbon cable is short and prone to breaking.
- If needed, hold the screen with your hand for extra support while flipping it.
Step 4 | Remove battery holder plate
Remove the 3 PH00 screws from the battery holder plate.
- Use tweezers to carefully lift out the battery holder plate.
Step 5 | Remove the screen
Remove the battery ribbon cable
This will prevent accidental phone activation.
- Use a fingernail or spudger to remove it straight out of its socket (circled red).
Next, remove the LCD ribbon cable
Use a fingernail or spudger to remove it straight out of its socket (circled green).
Step 6 | Screen removed
Screen removal complete.
