Xiaomi 12 Loudspeaker Replacement

Your Xiaomi 12's IP rating may be compromised due to loss of water resistance after repair.

  • Replace the loudspeaker with a new one.
  • Use replacement adhesive for the rear glass to ensure proper sealing.

Step 1 | Loosen the rear glass adhesive

A charged battery may catch fire if damaged during repair.

  • Allow your phone's battery to fully drain before starting repairs.

Unplug all cables and shut down the phone completely.

Apply an iOpener to the rear glass for two minutes to loosen the adhesive underneath.

Be careful not to overheat the phone, as it can cause heat damage to the display or internal battery. Alternative heating methods include a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Creating a gap in the rear glass requires significant force due to strong adhesive.

  • Apply more heat if necessary before attempting to create a gap.
  • For badly cracked rear glass, apply clear packing tape for suction handle adherence.

As a last resort, superglue the suction handle to the broken rear glass.

  • Position the suction handle on the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.
  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear glass and frame.

Insert an opening pick at the charging port location once a gap is achieved.

Step 3 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive

Step 3 image

Never push the pick deeper than 4mm to prevent damage.

  • Position the pick at the bottom right corner of the rear glass, cutting its adhesive.
  • Hold the pick in place to stop resealing.

Step 4 | Insert a second opening pick

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the pick towards the bottom left corner of the rear glass.

Apply heat to the adhesive for 1-2 minutes using an iOpener, a hair dryer, or a heat gun if it's hard to cut.

  • Insert an opening pick under the bottom left corner of the rear glass.
  • Slide the pick along the left edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in the top left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 6 | Slice the top edge adhesive

Remove the rear glass.

  • If the rear glass remains stuck to the frame, use an opening pick to slide it around the entire perimeter until separation is complete.
  • During reassembly:
    • Power on your phone and test all functions before sealing it up. Power down completely afterwards.
    • Apply pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape to secure the rear glass, having first cleaned the relevant areas with high-concentration isopropyl alcohol (>90%) and a lint-free cloth.
  • After installing the rear glass, apply strong, steady pressure for several minutes to form a good bond. A stack of heavy books can be used for this purpose.

Step 9 | Loosen the charging coil assembly
