Mi 11 Rear Glass Replacement

This guide is for replacing the rear glass on the Xiaomi Mi 11 and assumes you have replacement adhesive for reattaching components during reassembly.

This repair uses a teardown device, which means the motherboard's shielding has been removed.
Although the shield is off, this guide still covers all necessary repairs.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Careful not to overheat the phone when using a heat source.

Apply an iOpener to the rear glass for at least two minutes to loosen adhesive underneath.

Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate with caution.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Attach a suction handle to the rear glass's bottom edge, as close as possible.

If the rear glass is cracked, use strong tape or superglue to secure the suction handle in place.
Lift the back cover with the suction handle, creating a small gap between the cover and frame.

Apply more heat if needed, but be cautious not to overheat using an iOpener as instructed.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap.
Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner, slicing the adhesive.
Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom edge of your phone.

Slide the opening pick towards the bottom left corner to cut the adhesive.
Leave the pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 4 | Slice the adhesive

Check if the adhesive has cooled down, causing it to harden.

Reheat the adhesive using the iOpener.
Locate the bottom left corner of your phone and insert a third opening pick.
Slide the opening pick along the left edge to slice through the adhesive.
Leave the pick in the top left corner to prevent resealing.

Step 5

Position a fourth opening pick under the top left corner of the phone.

Slide the pick along the top edge to carefully slice the adhesive.
Leave this pick in place at the top right corner to prevent resealing.

Step 6

Insert opening pick into top right corner.

Slide pick along right edge of rear glass.
Slice remaining adhesive using pick.

Step 7 | Remove the rear glass

Remove the rear glass.

Clean relevant areas with isopropyl alcohol (>90%) before applying new adhesive.
Apply new adhesive to cleaned areas as needed.
Secure new rear glass using pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape.

Apply strong, steady pressure to the phone for several minutes after installation to ensure a good bond.

Heavy books can be used for added pressure.
