Xiaomi Mi 10 Battery Replacement

Discharging the battery below 25% beforehand prevents potential heat-related hazards.

  • Replace a dead or worn-out Xiaomi Mi 10 battery using this guide.
  • If your battery is swollen, take necessary precautions to avoid any risks.
  • Have replacement adhesive on hand for reassembling the device.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Switch off your phone.

  • iOpener on: apply to back of phone for 2+ minutes to loosen adhesive.

Step 2 | Insert the iFlex

Attach a suction handle to the rear glass's bottom edge.

If the rear glass is cracked, use strong tape or superglue to secure the suction handle.

  • Lift the rear glass with the suction handle to create a small gap.
  • Insert an iFlex into the gap to hold it open and prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Step 3 | Begin to slice the adhesive

  • Insert a opening pick into the gap.
  • Move it to the bottom right corner.
  • Now you can safely remove the iFlex.

Step 4 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the new opening pick across the glue to cut it.
  • Leave both opening picks in place to prevent resealing.

Step 5 | Slice the lefthand-side adhesive

Insert opening pick 3 into the bottom left corner.

  • Slide the tip along the side of the phone, working your way up.
  • Leave one opening pick at the top left corner to hold the adhesive in place.

Step 6 | Slice the top edge adhesive

Reapply heat using your iOpener if the adhesive becomes difficult to cut.

  • Insert a fourth opening pick under the top left corner of the rear glass.
  • Slide this pick along the top edge, cutting the adhesive as you go.
  • Leave the pick in place at the top right corner to prevent resealing.

Step 7 | Slice the righthand-side adhesive

  • Insert a fifth opening pick into the top right corner.
  • Move the opening pick along the right edge to separate any remaining adhesive.

Step 8 | Remove the rear glass

Power off your phone completely before proceeding.

  • Remove the rear glass.
  • Power on your phone and test all functions during reassembly.
  • Be sure to power down your phone completely before continuing work.

Step 9 | Unfasten the screws

Remove the four 4.9 mm Phillips #00 screws.

Step 10 | Loosen the charging coil adhesive

Insert an opening pick between the loudspeaker and the protective mat, carefully slicing through the adhesive.

Step 11 | Loosen the bottom adhesive

Apply an opening pick to cut through the adhesive under the black protective mat over the lower speaker unit.

Step 12 | Loosen the NFC & charging coil assembly

Avoid damaging the copper foil underneath the NFC and charging coil assembly.

  • Slide a plastic card or playing card underneath the NFC and charging coil assembly.
  • Loosen the adhesive with the card, starting at the left edge of the assembly.
  • Optional: Apply heat to the left edge using an iOpener to soften the adhesive.

Do not remove the NFC and charging coil assembly completely yet – it remains glued to the motherboard cover.

Step 13 | Fold over the NFC & charging coil assembly

Be careful not to damage the NFC and charging coil assembly.

  • Fold the NFC & charging coil assembly towards the left side of the phone.

Step 14 | Unfasten the screws

Remove the five 4.9mm Phillips #00 screws.

Step 15 | Pry up the motherboard cover

Insert an opening pick under the motherboard cover's lower right corner.

  • Pry up the motherboard cover using the opening pick.

Step 16 | Remove the motherboard cover

Remove the motherboard cover, which also includes the NFC and charging coil assembly.

Step 17 | Disconnect the battery

Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up and release the battery flex cable.

Step 18 | Unfasten the screws

Remove the three Phillips #00 screws securing the upper loudspeaker assembly.

Step 19 | Pry up the loudspeaker assembly

  • Insert an opening pick under the bottom left edge of the upper loudspeaker assembly.
  • Pry up the loudspeaker assembly using the opening pick.

Step 20 | Remove the loudspeaker

Remove the upper loudspeaker assembly.

Step 21 | Disconnect the interconnect cable

Insert the flat end of a spudger into the gap between the battery and the case.

  • Pry up on the interconnect cable covering the top edge of the battery with the spudger.
  • Fold the interconnect flex cable to the left side of the phone for access to the battery.

Step 22 | Peel off the pull tabs

Peel off the larger tab marked A using your fingers.

  • Remove the smaller tab marked B from the battery.

Step 23 | Pull up the battery

Hold both orange pull tabs and gently pull up to remove the battery.

Step 24 | Remove the battery

Do not reinstall a damaged or deformed battery — potential safety hazard.

  • Pry the battery off of the adhesive pad.
  • Remove the battery from its mount.

Temporarily reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard socket for proper alignment.

  • Adhere the new battery.
  • Disconnect it and continue reassembling your device.
