Risk of explosion or fire if battery is not fully discharged.
Ensure correct part replacement (screen only, with original frame and motherboard intact). Some replacement screens come pre-installed in a new frame - use the appropriate procedure for your specific part.
Avoid overheating the phone as it can cause damage to the display and internal battery.
Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.
In case you have trouble creating a gap, apply more heat to soften the adhesive, following the iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.
Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.
Insert a second opening pick at the bottom edge of your phone.
Check if adhesive has cooled down; use iOpener to reheat it.
Place the fifth pick at the top right corner.
Risk of damage if improper installation occurs.
Insert the opening pick under the motherboard cover's right edge, near the top.
Remove the motherboard cover using tweezers or your fingers.
Disconnect the battery cable with a spudger, prying the connector straight up from its socket.
Disconnect the interconnect flex cable using a spudger, prying the connector straight up from its socket.
Insert the SIM eject tool, SIM eject bit, or a straightened paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray at the bottom right edge of the phone.
Press directly into the hole to avoid damaging the tray — risk of tray breakage.
Remove the screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
Insert a opening pick under the top right corner of the loudspeaker assembly and gently pry it upwards.
Disconnect and remove the loudspeaker assembly.

Be cautious not to overheat the device when using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.
Apply a suction handle to the bottom edge of the screen once it's warm to touch.
If your screen is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better suction adhesion or use strong tape instead of the suction handle. Failing these options, superglue the suction cup to the screen.
Insert an iFixit Opening Pick above the iFlex.
Remove the iFlex.
Reheat the iOpener or heat gun for 1-2 minutes if the adhesive is hard to cut.
Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.
For the front-facing camera, only insert the tip of an opening pick (2-3 mm) to prevent damage or smudging.
Slide a fifth opening pick along the right edge of the phone to separate the remaining adhesive.
Do not attempt to lift the display completely at this time as it will interfere with the display cable.
Thread the display flex cable through the gap in the midframe and remove the screen.
