Redmi Note 4 Global Display Replacement

The screen or digitizer may be damaged, while other components remain operational.

Remove the SIM and SD card using a pin.

  • Use a silicone spatula to carefully press into the gap between housing and screen.
  • Pry the frame away from the screen, taking care not to apply too much pressure.

Disconnect any remaining connectors.

  • Remove all other connectors as shown in the previous image.

Careful prying may damage the scanner or its adhesive.

  • Disconnect the fingerprint scanner connector.
  • Pry the fingerprint scanner from the board using a plastic spudger, starting in one corner.
  • Optional: Preheat the scanner area with a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive.

Remove all Phillips head screws using a #00 Phillips driver.

Remove any remaining screws.

  • Pry off the plastic covers with care.

Remove the plastic cover from the top of the phone.

  • If necessary, use gentle prying to loosen the cover.
  • Once loose, remove the screw hidden underneath.

Move the plastic tab to one side to release the main board.

Disconnect the ribbon cable.

  • Remove the screw.
  • Carefully lift out the circuit board.

Separate the side button bar gently from the frame.

Remove the upper speaker.

Be aware that when removing the speaker, its two parts may separate due to thin copper cables connecting them.

  • To access and carefully pry out the bottom of the speaker, use the direction indicated by the red arrow.

Remove the battery by peeling off the battery adhesive strips.

  • Pull the battery out as flat as possible.
  • Perform the operation slowly to avoid damage.
  • Heating the display with a hair dryer can make removal easier, but be cautious not to apply excessive heat.

Disconnect the ribbon cable from the charging board. Set aside safely for future use.

Remove the LED light assembly if necessary.

  • Gently pry out the LED light assembly using pointed tweezers.

Increased risk of damage to connections or battery when connecting components.

  • Connect the button bar, screen, and battery for testing purposes.
  • Perform a long press on the bottom button to initiate phone operation.

Install the upper speaker by pressing it firmly into place.

  • Locate the speaker's mounting slot at the device's end.
  • Align the speaker with the slot, then press it in until it clicks securely.

Insert the LED bar, if previously removed.

  • Install the charging board in its correct position, ensuring secure seating.
  • Tighten the charging board securely with a firm grasp of the locking mechanism.

Remove the blue protective strip to expose the adhesive surface.

  • Insert the ribbon cable into the power supply.
  • Press the cable flat onto the exposed adhesive area, ensuring proper alignment.

Align the lower plastic cover with the chassis.

  • Screw the lower plastic cover into position using screws.

Align the motherboard with the socket.

  • Check the board's orientation using a metal pin.
  • Verify correct position with the plastic hook.

Reconnect all connectors

Step 22 | Replacing the battery

  • Remove the protective cover from the adhesive strips on both battery sides.
  • Install the battery, then reconnect it to the device.

  • Press the fingerprint scanner firmly back into place.
  • Securely reattach the display to the housing.
