Redmi A3 Screen Replacement

Using a hair dryer instead of a heat gun or heating pad may cause damage to other components.

  • Disassemble the phone as described in the user manual.
  • The screen is held in place by two clips on either side. Gently pry these open using a plastic spudger.
  • Disconnect the screen connector from the mainboard.

Step 1 | Remove SIM

Remove the SIM card from the SIM slot to prevent damage.

  • Push on the SIM ejector tool to release the SIM card.
  • Gently pull out the SIM card from its slot.

Step 2 | Heat the adhesive

Use caution with a hair dryer as it can be less precise.

  • Heat the edges of the back cover and camera cover using a heat gun, heating pad or hair dryer.

Step 3 | Pry open the back cover

Prying the back cover may damage components.

  • Insert a thin piece of plastic under the back cover and pry it open by dragging around the edges.
  • Continue to carefully pry under the camera cover.

If adhesive is too tough, reapply heat as needed.

Step 4 | Remove back cover

Careful handling required: risk of damage to components.

  • Remove the back cover of your phone, taking care not to break the glass.
  • For glass back covers, use a suction cup or duct tape to avoid cracking.
  • Use adhesive remover or scrape off remaining adhesive carefully.

Step 5 | Unscrew frame

Unscrew the phone's using a small Phillips screwdriver.

Careful not to lose any of the screws.

Step 6 | Remove frame

Be cautious: some users may overlook the lock button/fingerprint sensor.

  • The phone frame should detach without much effort.
  • Disconnect the lock button/fingerprint sensor connector before proceeding.

Step 7 | Remove battery

Disconnect the battery.

  • Peel off the orange sticker, separating it into parts labelled A (sides) and B (middle).
  • Pull on part A to release the sticker from the battery.
  • Remove the battery along with the remaining sticker. Do not dispose of the sticker as it may be needed later.

Step 8 | Disconnect screen

Disconnect both screen connectors by unplugging their respective cables.

Risk of injury from broken glass fragments — take precautions.

  • Apply duct tape to the screen to prevent loose shards during removal.
  • Heat the adhesive and carefully pry the screen off the phone using a suitable tool.
  • Remove any remaining adhesive residue from the phone's surface.

Step 10 | Glue and connect new screen

Apply a small but sufficient amount of phone adhesive along the edges of the phone.

Avoid touching the front camera during this process.

  • Place the new screen assembly onto the phone, ensuring proper alignment.
  • Securely connect the screen using the provided connectors or cable.
