Poco X3 Pro Battery Replacement

Discharge the battery below 25% before disassembly to minimize thermal risk in case of accidental damage.

  • Prioritize caution if your battery is swollen, taking necessary precautions during the process.
  • You'll need replacement adhesive for reassembling the device.

Step 1 | Heat the back cover

Step 1 image

Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the back cover for at least two minutes.

  • The iOpener should loosen the adhesive underneath.
  • Alternatively, a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may be used with caution.
  • Avoid overheating the phone to prevent damage to the display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Secure a suction handle to the bottom edge of the back cover, as close to the edge as possible.

If the back cover is cracked, the suction handle may not stick — use strong tape or superglue it in place and allow it to cure before proceeding.

  • Lift the back cover with the suction handle to create a small gap between the back cover and frame.
  • If you have trouble creating a gap, apply more heat following the iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Insert an opening pick into the gap you created.

  • Slide the opening pick to the bottom right corner to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

Step 3 image

  • Position a second opening pick near the bottom edge of your phone.
  • Slide the opening pick towards the bottom left corner to break the adhesive seal.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent re-adhesion.

Step 4 | Slice the adhesive

Check if the adhesive has cooled down. If so, reheat it with the iOpener for 1-2 minutes.

  • Insert a new opening pick at the bottom left corner of your phone.
  • Slide this pick along the left edge to cut through the adhesive.
  • Leave the pick in the top left corner to prevent re-adhesion.

Step 5

Insert the opening pick into the top left corner.

  • Slide the opening pick along the top edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave it in place at the top right corner to prevent resealing.

  • Insert a fifth opening pick under the top right corner.
  • Slide it along the right edge of the back cover to cut any remaining adhesive.

Step 7 | Remove the back cover

  • Remove the back cover.
  • Clean areas as needed with isopropyl alcohol (greater than 90%), then apply new adhesive.
  • Allow strong, steady pressure to form a good bond; for example, stack books on top of the phone for several minutes or use double-sided adhesive tape.

Step 8 | Unscrew the motherboard cover screws

Step 8 image

Remove the motherboard cover using a Phillips screwdriver with a tip size suitable for the screws.

  • There are eleven screws in total.
  • Each screw is 3.9 mm long.
  • The correct screwdriver tip size is required for removal.

Step 9 | Pry up the motherboard cover

Disconnect the power and volume button flex cable by prying its connector straight up from the socket using a spudger.

Bend the power and volume button flex cable out of the way carefully to avoid damaging it.

  • Use your fingers or a pair of tweezers for this delicate operation.
  • Fold the power and volume button flex cable to one side to access the battery.

Step 13 | Disconnect the interconnect cable

Avoid sharp bends when handling cables to prevent damage.

  • Use a spudger to disconnect the interconnect cable by prying straight up from its socket.
  • Bend the interconnect flex cable towards the charging port for access to the battery pull tabs.
  • Optional: Secure cables with tape on your working surface to prevent accidental damage.

Step 14 | Peel off the battery pull-tabs

Do not puncture or bend the battery, as this may cause a leak of hazardous chemicals or a thermal event.

  • Use a pair of blunt nose tweezers or a clean fingernail to carefully remove the orange adhesive strip labelled with an A from the battery.
  • Repeat the process to remove the orange adhesive strip labelled with a B from the battery, using the same care as before.

Step 15 | Remove the battery

Step 15 image

Grab both pull-tab ends marked A and lift the battery out by pulling up on the orange adhesive strip.

May require force; if stuck, apply a heated iOpener to loosen the adhesive underneath.

  • Pull the battery off the remaining adhesive.
  • Remove the battery from its recess.

Temporarily reconnect the battery during reassembly for correct alignment; disconnect once seated.

  • If replacing adhesive, peel off old sticker and clean midframe area with isopropyl alcohol (>90%); let dry before applying new adhesive.
