Xiaomi Poco M3 Battery Replacement

For safety, discharge the battery below 25% before disassembly to prevent thermal risks.

  • Replace a worn-out or dead battery in your Xiaomi Poco M3 using this guide.
  • Take precautions if the battery is swollen.

You'll need replacement adhesive for reassembling the device.

Step 1 | SIM Card tray removal

Risk of damage if SIM card tray gasket is damaged or missing.

  • Insert a SIM card eject tool or paperclip into the small hole in the SIM card tray, near top left corner.
  • Press firmly to eject the SIM card tray.
  • Remove the SIM card tray by pulling it out of the phone assembly.
  • If a SIM card is present, it will fall out easily.

When reinserting the SIM card, ensure correct orientation inside the SIM card tray.

A rubber gasket around the SIM card tray provides water and dust protection. Replace if damaged or missing to protect internal components.

Step 2 | Insert a spudger

Do not insert the spudger at a flat angle — risk of damaging the charging port.

Insert the spudger into the charging port at a steep angle.

  • Pry the back cover away from the bottom edge of the screen using the spudger as a gap opener.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Insert opening pick between phone assembly and back cover.

  • Remove spudger.

Step 4 | Release the plastic clips

  • Insert an opening pick into the bottom left corner of the phone.
  • Apply gentle pressure along the edge, moving it to release the plastic clips at the bottom left corner.

Run a pick along the left edge of the phone, releasing the plastic clips.

Step 6

  • Slide the opening pick around the top left corner to release the plastic clips.
  • Continue sliding it along the top edge of the phone to release the remaining clips.

Do not touch or damage the flex cable — it may be damaged if pulled too hard.

  • Slide the opening pick around the top right corner until the plastic clips release.
  • Leave the opening pick inserted above the volume buttons.
  • Avoid applying pressure near physical buttons, as there is a flex cable that can be easily damaged.

Insert another opening pick into the gap at the bottom edge.

  • Slide the opening pick around the bottom right corner to release the plastic clips.
  • Continue along the right edge, stopping just below the fingerprint reader.

Remove the opening picks.

  • Flip the phone over.
  • Avoid stretching the fingerprint flex cable.

  • Swing the back cover up from the right side, like opening a book.

Step 10 | Unfasten the screws

Remove the ten 3.9 mm screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Step 11 | Pry up the motherboard cover

  • Insert an opening pick at the bottom right corner of the motherboard cover.
  • Slide the opening pick along the right edge to release the plastic clips.
  • At the top right, twist the opening pick counter-clockwise to pry up the motherboard cover.

Step 12 | Remove the motherboard cover

Remove the motherboard cover.

Step 13 | Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up the fingerprint sensor cable from the bottom left corner of the motherboard.

  • Be careful not to damage the surrounding components.

  • Remove the back cover assembly.

Step 14 | Disconnect the battery cable

Locate the battery cable at the bottom right corner of the motherboard.

  • Use the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the battery cable.

Step 15 | Peel the "A" pull tab off the battery

Do not puncture or bend the battery, as this can lead to chemical leaks or thermal events.

  • Peel the top edge of the orange adhesive strip (A) off the battery using blunt nose tweezers or a clean fingernail.
  • Repeat for the bottom edge, peeling the adhesive strip labeled with an A away from the battery.
  • Fold down the remaining adhesive strip (A).

Step 16 | Peel the "B" pull tab off the battery

Remove the B-sticker using either blunt-nose tweezers or your finger.

Step 17 | Lift the battery out of its recess

Locate both corners of the orange adhesive strip labeled with an A.

  • Pull upwards on the orange adhesive strip to lift the battery out of its recess.
  • Swing the battery to an upright position.

Adhesive tabs may require some force to remove; apply heat from a iOpener if necessary for assistance.

Step 18 | Remove the battery

Peel the battery off the remaining adhesive.

  • Remove the battery.
  • During reassembly, temporarily reconnect the battery to the motherboard for alignment.
  • Disconnect the battery after it is seated.

Step 19 | Remove the adhesive sticker

Peel the battery's adhesive sticker off the midframe.

Mandatory for display replacement, recommended to use a fresh adhesive sticker with new battery installation.
