Samsung Galaxy Phone Battery Draining Fast

Your Samsung Galaxy battery is draining quickly? This guide will identify and resolve common causes of rapid battery drain.

Step 1 | Power Hungry Apps

View battery-draining apps in Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Using since last full charge.

  • Uninstall unused apps from Settings > Apps.
  • Alternatively, enable "Put unused apps to sleep" in Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits.

Step 2 | Display Settings

Optimizing display settings can significantly reduce power consumption.

  • Disable the Always On Display in the Settings app > Lock screen, or schedule it for a specific time.
  • If necessary, turn off Power saving mode to disable Always On Display.
  • Lower the display resolution to HD+ or FHD+ in the Settings app > Display > Screen resolution.
  • Reduce the screen refresh rate from High to Standard in the Settings app > Display > Motion smoothness.

Batteries have a limited lifespan and may be damaged by improper use.

  • Check your phone's battery health using the Samsung Members app, available from Google Play store.
  • Run the battery test under the support tab, selecting phone diagnostics.

Look for signs of battery expansion, such as:

  • Separation of the enclosure
  • Localized screen discoloration
  • Bowing of the housing

If diagnostic tests fail or you see these signs, replace the battery.

Recently repaired your device? Reconnect the battery after disconnecting it to prevent improper charging behavior.
