Samsung Galaxy Frozen Screen

Step 1 | Storage Is Full

Device low on storage? This can affect performance, just like a full sock drawer.

  • Try force restarting the device (refer to steps at the beginning of this page).
  • Repeat the force restart process a few times if necessary.

If no space is cleared, optimize storage with Device Care under Settings > Device Care.

  • If optimization doesn't work, delete unused files and applications.
  • Reset device as last resort, especially after repeated low storage warnings.

Step 2 | Heavy Workload

Check for hardware limitations by looking at task-specific issues.

  • Go to Settings > Device Care.
  • Run tasks to free up storage and system resources.
  • Verify if any system or application updates are in progress, consuming system resources.
  • Check phone responsiveness after update completion.

Step 3 | Cache Partition is Full

  • Turn off the phone by pressing and holding Power.
  • Hold Volume Up and press Power (Bixby) simultaneously until the Android logo appears.
  • Select Recovery mode using Volume keys, then choose Wipe Cache partition.
  • Confirm by pressing Power.

Step 4 | Software Corruption or Conflict

Device becomes unusable due to corrupted system files, often caused by software updates, conflicting apps, or malware.

  • Try updating the device via Settings > Software Update.
  • If update fails, check if recent backups exist or be prepared for data loss during restore process.
  • Restore to factory settings, erasing all current data, if a recent backup is available or data loss is acceptable.
