Samsung Stratosphere Rear Camera Replacement

The rear camera is located on the phone's back, facing away from the display.

Step 1 | Battery

Locate the groove at the top of the phone and use your fingers to carefully pry along it.

  • Pull the rear casing back, away from the device, until it separates completely.

The casing may make a cracking sound as it is removed due to its adhesive properties.

Use your fingers to pry the battery loose from the bottom.

Be careful not to touch any electrical components during this process.

  • Lift the battery away from the phone to complete removal.

Step 3 | Motherboard

Locate the red and white SIM card situated above the battery housing.

  • Be gentle when handling the SIM card to avoid damaging it.

  • Slide the SIM card downwards from its slot using your fingers.

Remove the sixteen silver 3mm screws from the rear panel with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

  • If any screws become stuck, use tweezers to carefully remove them.

Step 5

Be cautious when prying the rear panel — risk of damaging internal components.

  • Pry around the rear panel with a strong plastic opening tool to loosen it.
  • Remove the panel from the phone using your fingers once loose.

Step 6

Remove the four black 3mm screws using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

Locate the flex cable attachment at the tab marked by a green arrow.

  • Pry the attachment from the indicated side using your fingers.
  • The cable will emit a distinct snap as it's detached.
  • Allow the cable to hang loosely to the phone's side.

Locate the motherboard and gently pull it upwards from the side opposite the loose flex cable.

  • If required, use a plastic opening tool to carefully separate the motherboard from the key pad underneath.
  • Lift the motherboard up and out of the device.

Step 9 | Rear Camera

  • Gently pull the camera to the left.
  • Keep the camera close to the motherboard while sliding the metal foil connector out.
