Nexus S Rear Inner Frame Replacement

Gentle force is necessary to avoid damaging internal components.

• Insert a plastic opening tool between the rear panel and inner rear frame near the camera.
• Pry up the rear case around the perimeter of the device using your plastic opening tool.

Remove the rear panel of the Nexus S.

Use the plastic opening tool to lift the battery at its end closest to the headphone jack.

• Release the battery from the device.

Slide the SIM card down from its slot using your thumb.

• Continue holding the SIM card as it releases.
• Remove the SIM card.

Remove the six Phillips screws holding the rear inner frame to the inner case.

Position the plastic opening tool between the rear inner frame and the top left corner of the Nexus S.

• Pry the tool upwards carefully to release the clip holding the top right corner in place.

• Locate the power button and insert the plastic opening tool to its right.
• Slide the plastic opening tool downwards along the Nexus S's perimeter to release the clips on the right side.

Release the bottom clips at the phone's bottom.

• This is done in a similar way to a previous step.

Use the plastic opening tool to release the final clip.

• Pry open the clip that secures the rear inner frame to the inner assembly.

Remove the rear inner frame by lifting it out of the Nexus S.

The rear inner frame must be retained.
