Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Top Glass Replacement

The goal of this repair is to replace the damaged top glass on your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

Step 1 | Preparation

Ensure device is completely powered off to prevent damage.

  • Set the phone face down on a clean, debris-free surface.
  • Avoid placing the phone on any surfaces with abrasive materials or sharp objects that may scratch the screen.

Step 2 | Heating the back glass.

Apply iOpener to left edge of phone for 1 minute.

  • Alternatively, use a heat gun, hairdryer, or heating mat to melt adhesive.
  • Be careful when using heat gun or hairdryer — risk of damage to battery or screen.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction cup to the glass.

If your glass is badly cracked, cover it with clear packaging tape to ensure a good suction cup seal.

  • Pull up on the glass while pushing down on the metal part on the hinge until the glass begins to separate from the frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap between the glass and the frame.

Step 4 | Begin to slice the adhesive

Slide the pick down to the corner of the phone to slice the adhesive.

Insert no more than a quarter of the pick's length through the phone to avoid damaging internal components.

Step 5 | Slice around the perimeter of the phone

Place a new opening pick at each corner and reheat that area.

  • Apply gentle heat to the chosen area with a hair dryer.
  • Wait for adhesive to become soft, then carefully cut it around the phone.

Step 6 | Lift off the glass

Risk of damage to the ribbon cable: lift the rear glass from the far left side.

  • Lift up the rear glass, starting from the far left side of the phone.

Step 7 | Disconnecting the ribbon cable

Remove the plastic bracket covering the connector using a uspudger.

  • Disconnect the ribbon cable from the board using a spudger.
  • Follow the installation instructions to reinstall the rear cover and replace the adhesive.

Turn on your device and test the repair before installing new adhesive and resealing it.
