Apply heat to the screen edges using a heat gun or a hair dryer on high setting.

  • Focusing on the edges, allow the glue to melt and soften.

  • Insert picks around the barrier of the screen as wedges.
  • The picks will help pry the screen off.
  • A suction cup can be used to assist in separating the screen from the casing, but be cautious not to damage any components.

Unclip the black tab covering the motherboard and screen ribbon cables.

Remove the ribbon cable using a spudger or tweezers.

Remove the fourteen 4 mm screws with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

  • Next, use an opening tool to carefully pry off the backplate.

Use an opening tool to disconnect the red and blue wires from the motherboard.

  • Release the headphone jack cable connected to the motherboard.
  • Separate the side button ribbon cable attached to the motherboard.

  • Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the two 2.4 mm screws from the motherboard.
  • Pry off the motherboard using an opening tool or your finger.

Step 9 | Headphone Jack

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the 2.4mm screw securing the headphone jack.
