Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini Camera Failed Troubleshooting

Solve a "Camera failed" issue in your phone with these 5 easy steps.

  • Perform Step 1.
  • If the camera still doesn't work, proceed to Step 2.
  • Continue this pattern until you find the solution or reach Step 5.

Step 1 | Camera Data and Cache

Enter Settings.

  • Navigate to Application Manager.
  • Select All Apps.
  • Choose the Camera application.

Clear data and cache, then test the camera functionality. If it still does not work, proceed to the next step.

Step 2 | Factory / Hard Reset

This process will completely erase all stored data on the device.

  • Navigate to Settings and select Backup & reset.
  • Select Factory data reset from the menu.
  • Choose Reset device and confirm by selecting Erase everything.

All user data will be deleted permanently after completing this process.

Step 3 | Firmware

Visit sammobile.com and register.

  • Search for your device model's firmware variant on the site.
  • Find the correct variant in Settings > About the device or by dialing *#1234# in the dialer app.

Follow instructions and download the Odin app from the page provided.

Step 4 | Reconnecting Camera

Remove battery, SIM, and memory card before proceeding.

  • Disconnect Menu buttons and SD card reader flex cables.
  • Lift board from left side, being careful of earpiece and main camera adhering to Display frame.

Remove the Midframe.

Disconnect the LCD display flex cable.

  • Be careful not to damage the pin headers.

  • Open the camera flex cable connector and reconnect the camera.

Step 6 | Camera Replacement

Camera replacement is the final troubleshooting step if it continues to malfunction.

  • Obtain a replacement camera module from an authorized supplier or manufacturer.
  • Follow the installation instructions provided with the new camera module for a successful swap.
