Replacing the charging port may compromise the device's waterproofing; a new seal is required if maintaining water resistance is essential.
Switch off your phone before proceeding.
Follow iOpener instructions to avoid overheating the device.
Using a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may be necessary due to strong adhesive; be careful not to overheat phone:
Protect the fingerprint sensor flex cable when cutting through adhesive.
Cracked rear glass may interfere with suction cup adhesion.
Press a suction cup onto the back cover.
Insert an opening pick in the created gap and slide it to the bottom right corner.
Insert the opening pick into the device at the bottom left corner.
Apply heat as needed while sliding an opening pick from the bottom right along the side to the top.
Do not open the phone fully until the fingerprint sensor cable has been disconnected.
Locate the volume button on the rear glass.
Rear glass removal requires great care to avoid damage.
Remove the NFC coil assembly.
Remove the motherboard bracket.
Remove the speaker cover/antenna assembly.
Remove the five 3mm screws with a #000 Phillips screwdriver.
Disconnect the three cables.
If your replacement charging port lacks the blue and white cables, remove them from the old board for connection to the new one.
Use a spudger to carefully pry the headphone jack loose.
Disconnect and remove the charging port board.
