Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Fingerprint Sensor and Camera Lens Cover Replacement

Opening the Samsung Galaxy S9+ will damage the waterproof sealing on the device.

  • Fingerprint sensor and camera lens cover removal is required for this repair.
  • Replacing the adhesive seals is crucial to maintain water-protection after reassembly. Replacement adhesive should be acquired in advance.

Step 1 | Rear Glass Removal

Step 1 image

Switch off your phone.

  • Apply an iOpener for at least two minutes to loosen rear glass adhesive.
  • If needed, repeat this step several times during back cover removal.

Use extreme caution when applying heat: the AMOLED display and internal battery are susceptible to damage.

If iOpener is insufficient, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate. However, be careful not to overheat your phone.

Prying or slicing in this area may damage the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

  • Identify and slice through thick portions of adhesive as shown.
  • Similarly, target thin areas of adhesive for cutting.

Apply strong tape or superglue to the suction cup if rear glass is cracked.

  • Press a suction cup onto the back cover.
  • Lift the bottom edge with your suction cup, creating a slight gap.
  • If needed, apply more heat and try again as adhesive cools quickly.
  • Insert an opening pick in the gap and slide it to the bottom right corner.
