Samsung Galaxy S8 Loudspeaker Assembly Replacement

Discharging the battery below 25% reduces the risk of explosion or fire in case it's accidentally punctured during disassembly.

  • Remove the rear glass cover, which will require new adhesive for reattachment.
  • Follow this guide to replace a blown loudspeaker assembly in your Samsung Galaxy S8.

Step 1 | iOpener Heating

Step 1 image

Clean the microwave thoroughly before proceeding, as debris on the bottom may transfer to the iOpener.

  • Place the iOpener in the center of the microwave.
  • For carousel microwaves: Ensure the plate rotates freely. Stuck iOpeners may overheat and burn.

Step 2

Step 2 image

Do not attempt to heat over 100°C (212°F) — overheating may cause the iOpener to burst.

  • Heat the iOpener for thirty seconds in the microwave.
  • Reheat as needed, up to an additional thirty seconds at a time throughout the repair procedure.

The iOpener is sufficiently heated when it's barely too hot to touch. Do not touch if swollen.

Continue using a warmed iOpener while waiting for it to cool down further, as it should stay warm up to 10 minutes.

Step 3

Step 3 image

Handle the iOpener carefully as it will be extremely hot.

  • Remove the iOpener from the microwave, holding by one of the flat ends to avoid the hot center.
  • Use an oven mitt if necessary for added protection when handling.

Step 4 | Alternate iOpener heating method

Use extreme caution when handling hot iOpener

  • Fill a pot or pan with enough boiling water to submerge an iOpener.
  • Submerge an iOpener in the hot water for 2-3 minutes.
  • Use tongs to carefully remove the heated iOpener from the water.
  • Dry the iOpener thoroughly with a towel.
  • Hold the iOpener by the end tabs only, as it will be very hot.

For repeated use, repeat this process to reheat the iOpener.

Step 5 | Back Glass Assembly

Step 5 image

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals — ensure replacement adhesive is available or exercise caution against liquid exposure.

  • Heat an iOpener for about 2 minutes, applying it to a long edge of the S8.
  • Reheat and reapply as needed, following iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

Alternative heat sources (hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate) can be used with care, but be cautious not to overheat the phone — particularly the OLED display and internal battery.

Identify thick and thin adhesive areas around rear glass panel.

  • Cut through adhesive along edge of rear glass panel using a cutting tool.

Avoid prying near fingerprint sensor, to prevent damage.

Refer to first image for adhesive layout on rear case.

Step 7

Apply a suction cup near the heated edge of the phone, avoiding the curved edge.

  • If the back cover is cracked, use strong tape or superglue to secure the suction cup.
  • Lift on the suction cup and insert an opening pick under the rear glass.
  • Due to the curved glass, push up rather than inserting parallel to the phone's plane.

Step 8

Step 8 image

Reheat and reapply the iOpener to the glass.

  • Firmly insert the tool back into the glass.
  • Allow the adhesive to soften before proceeding.

Step 9

Slide a precision-opening pick along the side of the phone to separate the adhesive.

Go slowly to avoid the tool slipping out of position, which may cause damage.

  • If cutting becomes difficult, reheat and reapply the iOpener.

Continue to heat and cut the remaining three sides.

  • Leave a opening pick in place for each side before moving on.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable before lifting the rear glass — risk of damage.

  • As you lift the glass, ensure the orange cable with blue connector has disconnected.
  • Use opening picks to slice through remaining adhesive and open the phone slightly.

Do not proceed if the fingerprint sensor cable appears snagged or taut — risk of damage.

  • Disconnect the cable connector with a spudger before proceeding.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor cable during reassembly by angling the back cover and snapping the connector straight down.

Remove the rear glass from the phone.

Step 12

Step 12 image

Remove remaining adhesive from phone chassis using tweezers.

  • Apply high concentration isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) and lint-free cloth to prep surface.
  • Peel off new rear glass backing, align with chassis, and press firmly onto phone.

Ensure phone functionality before applying adhesive and resealing.

If reinstalling back cover without adhesive, heat it to secure in place (note: not waterproof).

  • Remove large chunks of old adhesive that may obstruct proper fit.
  • If camera bezel transfer is required, follow our camera bezel replacement guide.

Step 13 | NFC Antenna and Charging Coil Assembly

  • Locate and remove the screws that secure the assembly, if applicable.
  • Gently pull the NFC antenna and charging coil assembly away from its mounting points.
