Samsung Galaxy S8 Earpiece Speaker Replacement

Discharging the battery below 25% reduces the risk of a hazardous explosion or fire in case it's accidentally punctured.

  • Remove the rear glass cover using replacement adhesive for reassembly.
  • Follow this guide to remove the earpiece speaker from your Samsung Galaxy S8.

Step 1 | iOpener Heating

Step 1 image

Clean the microwave floor thoroughly before proceeding.

  • Place the iOpener in the center of the microwave.
  • For carousel microwaves:
    • E nsure the plate spins freely to prevent overheating.

Step 2

Step 2 image

Do not exceed 100°C (212°F) when heating the iOpener.

  • Heat the iOpener in a microwave for 30 seconds.
  • If your microwave's wattage is high, heat may be faster; lower wattage may require more time.
  • The iOpener is ready when it's just too hot to touch.

Be cautious not to overheat the iOpener, as this can cause it to burst.

  • Throughout the repair, reheat the iOpener in 30-second increments as needed.
  • If the iOpener appears swollen, do not touch it.
  • If still too hot to touch, continue using while waiting for it to cool down further before reheating.
  • A properly heated iOpener should remain warm for up to 10 minutes.

Step 3

Step 3 image

Handle the hot iOpener with care.

  • Remove the iOpener from the microwave.
  • Hold the iOpener by one of the two flat ends, avoiding direct contact with the hot center.
  • Use an oven mitt if extra protection is needed.

Step 4 | Alternate iOpener heating method

Step 4 image

Fill a pot or pan with enough boiling water to fully submerge an iOpener.

  • Submerge an iOpener into the hot water and let it heat for 2-3 minutes.
  • Use tongs to carefully extract the heated iOpener from the water.
  • Dry the iOpener thoroughly with a towel before using it.
  • Be cautious when handling the iOpener as it will be very hot.

You can reheat the iOpener by repeating this process as needed.

Step 5 | Back Glass Assembly

Step 5 image

Opening your phone will compromise its waterproof seals — replacement adhesive is recommended before proceeding.

  • Heat a long edge of the S8 with an iOpener for about 2 minutes, reheating as needed to achieve warmth.
  • Be cautious when using alternative heat sources (hair dryer, heat gun, hot plate) — avoid overheating the phone and damaging the OLED display or internal battery.

If reassembling without replacement adhesive, be mindful of liquid exposure during handling.

To avoid damaging internal components, never pry near the fingerprint sensor.

  • Identify the thick and thin adhesive sections as seen from the outside of the phone.
  • Cut through the adhesive around the edge of the rear glass panel using a safe prying pattern.

Step 7

Step 7 image

Apply a suction cup near the heated edge of the phone's back panel.

  • Avoid the curved edge, as the suction cup won't make a good seal there.
  • If the back cover is cracked, use strong tape or superglue to secure the suction cup before proceeding.

Lift on the suction cup and insert an opening pick under the rear glass while pushing up due to the curved design.

Step 8

Step 8 image

Reheat and reapply iOpener to the glued area.

Make sure the tool is still securely in place.

Step 9

Step 9 image

Slide the opening pick down the phone's side, carefully separating the adhesive.

  • Work slowly to maintain control over the tool.
  • If cutting becomes difficult,

    reheat and reapply the iOpener

    .

Continue heating and cutting the adhesive on the remaining three sides of the phone.

  • Leaving a tool in place, proceed to the next side.
  • Prevent the adhesive from resealing by maintaining an opening pick on each side.

Step 11

Step 11 image

Disconnect the short fingerprint sensor cable as you remove the rear glass near the main camera.

  • Verify the orange cable with a blue connector has disconnected as you lift the glass.
  • Use opening picks to slice through remaining adhesive and open the phone slightly, but do not proceed if the cable seems snagged or taut.

Carefully disconnect the snagged connector with a spudger before proceeding.

  • During reassembly, angle the back cover into position until the cable connector lines up over its socket.
  • Use a flat-ended spudger to snap the connector into place by pressing straight down.

Remove the glass from the phone.

Step 12

Step 12 image

Use tweezers to remove remaining adhesive from phone chassis.

  • Clean adhesion areas with high concentration isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) and lint-free cloth.
  • Peel off new rear glass backing, align one edge, and press firmly onto phone chassis.

Do not seal the phone until you've tested your repair by turning on your phone.

  • Reinstall old back cover following this guide or install without pre-applied adhesive.
  • If reinstalling, remove large chunks of adhesive to ensure flush fit. Apply heat and pressure to secure.

Back cover may not be waterproof if reinstalled without new adhesive.

  • Transfer camera bezel as needed; consult our camera bezel replacement guide for instructions.
